@sho, yup. If we don't have a spot, we could always use him to look at kids.
Texass is eyeing him right now because he's well-versed in the DFW area (as he also played in DFW), and I know some posters are keen on seeing the Texas recruiting pipeline bolstered again.
Several media outlets commended him for his class in going out at Kansas and suggested they were excited about where he goes next as they think he will win.
Why are we so adamant about staff changes when we are heading in the right direction? Not every talented coach wants to go work in the recruiting department or as a consultant and that's all we have to offer right now. Frost wants his guys, guys he trusts 100% so unless there is some sort of connection, I'm doubtful of this in any capacity. No shot at Beatty or any one who wants him, but this is what it is.
@ScottyIceI agree, no need to change the staff up at all. That's why I think, if we add anybody, add them to support staff, like Ron Brown, or to the recruiting department. I believe all these guys can help with game-planning and scouting, and help identify talent to target. They just can't be on the field 'coaching' but can assist in so many other areas.
Doesn't Alabama have like 50 former head coaches in their auxillary command center? They break down film, analyze recruits, plan who to give suitcases of money to....
I realize our ST has been pathetic but I’m not ready to put that on a coach who historically has had pretty decent special teams prior. Maybe this staff has had their hands full changing the culture, implementing an offense and stop gapping a defense that doesn’t have enough difference makers. How about we back off the “fire him” mode and see what it looks like in another year or two with hopefully some infusion of talent? Not that many of our prior coaches didn’t deserve to get fired but we got where we are partially due to lack of continuity. I’ll trust Frost to handle it and I’d implore people to abandon the “fire him” attitude we’ve had for too long. Things are trending in the right direction and maybe ST has just been the victim of too much to change at once and a lack of jimmies and joes. Hell, just getting a kicker that doesn’t trip on a kickoff or repeatedly kickoff out of bounds would make ST look way better and those aren’t coaching problems.
