Based on more cryptic tweets this morning, Severe may end up back on 1620 in the midday time slot which Nick Bahe had. I predicted this when Bahe stepped away.
I was under the impression he left 1620 on "not so good" terms. I remember the other shows not mentioning names but laughing about "that one guy who left because AM radio is dying and the future is in streaming..."
I never listened to Severe's show on OWH, how was he solo? I always thought he was better as an analyst type for a show. Kugler would run the show and he could add insight but didnt have to control direction/pace.
I am not a huge fan of Host and producer, because you only get 1 voice and producer usually gets shut down if they get too talky.
Severe had a regular stream of guests on the show, so he was rarely talking by himself. With OWH completely shutting down that show, it will be interesting to see if Sam and the rest of the OWH staff will be welcomed back on 1620 shows. I'm sure radio shows are always trying to fill segments, so getting those guests from other media outlets help that.
Josh is a nice kid, but I honestly was fairly surprised when he got a co-host gig. I know him fairly well and he worked his butt off to go from intern to producer and was there when they were in a bind, but I just dont know if he has the personality for a show of that level.
I have listened so few times, i truly dont know but to go from Kugler/Severe to Bishop/Peterson is a fairly big shift in talent/unique takes.
