I think it's a good movie. It's about working hard to overcome physical and social limitations to achieve your dreams, which is a pretty universal message.
There's a Rudy in every team's history, and that movie could have been made about a player from any football team, really.
I just think it's a sensationalized movie about a football player who pretty much sucked. Joe Montana has publicly debunked many of the items from the movie.
I am guessing that Joe and more than a few other guys on the team hated Rudy at the time...then the movie comes out years later and I am sure a lot of them were rolling their eyes about it. I would say that a lot of the NU players get sick and tired about reading/hearing about the "walk-on heart" and all that crap too.
I'm sure there a lot of kick a$$ athletes from the 1990s teams who get tired of hearing how walk-ons were the "heart of the program". They worked just as hard (if not harder) during practice, and they probably worked out a ton to improve their strength and speed. Yes, natural athleticism and ability is the main contributor for their success, but let's not act like they were only working hard because of the walk-on program.
