I don't totally know what defines a craft beer but I have gone to a lot of beer fests and I had a carrot cake beer that was amazing!  I also had a banana bread one that was really good.  That carrot cake one was insane.  I had a pretzel one that I thought was going to taste so good but it was just weird.

Too many to count...

Green Zebra

Soft Parade

Alaskan Amber Ale

CBS

KBS

24 Carrot Mango

Lemon Lime Lager

Oberon

Dragon's Milk

Wango Mango

M43

Pretty murh anything from Griffin Claw

And a hundred other I can't remember. I could be a supreme Court Justice. I like beer!

@teachercd I like very flavorful stuff myself so I would be right there trying those with you. I definitely think the sweeter ones would be better, though. Something about a salty beer just turns my stomach in the same way my salted caramel protein powder eventually started to.

@ZRod So far, since the move:

Paid out the a$$ for some CBS, which I probably should have waited for, but is very, very good.

Keep eyeing KBS at the store but I'm trying to slim down and have so far fought the urge.  Also want to try some All-Day IPA and M43.

Founders in general is good. Quite partial to the regular Breakfast Stout. Porter was meh.

Love Oberon as an anytime summer beer. Two-Hearted Ale was fine.

Dragon's Milk is strong but I don't care for the taste. Prefer the Founders offerings for high ABV stouts.

Milkshake Stout by Rochester Mills was good. Roak French Toast Stout was a nice treat as well.

Good start!

This is the last year for CBS, a real tragedy!

M43 is by far one of my favorite IPA, and I don't really like IPAs.

Dragon's milk is hit and miss for people. I love it. You could try Atwater's new bourbon barrel. It's pretty solid.

Rochester Mills has a lot of great unique beers that you can only seem to find at the Mill itself or tap house. The Mill restaurant is really cool, but the food is thoroughly average.

Didn't waste any time!

I definitely need to tour some of the breweries. I've never seen any.

Well that's depressing about the CBS. Don't feel quite so bad about what I paid for it. Found it in a convenience store that you could've blinked and missed.

I am not an IPA guy either but I've had some that grow on me up here.

It's really kind of staggering how much better the beer scene here is than Nebraska. Still have a find a good jalepeno ale though!

CBS and KBS are never cheap. They're always like 5 dollars or more per bottle. I usually only drink them at the bars where I don't mind paying that much for a beer and I'm getting a draft.

Yeah, I'm not joking when I say Michigan is one of the top beer scenes in the country (maybe world too). Nebraska's breweries are good, but nothing like here.

My wife and I have volunteered as beer pourers at the Great American Beer Festival twice.  That's a lot of fun, as we are allowed to sample the beers we are pouring, and we are given a 45 minute break in our shift to go check out the festival.  The pourers can have as much beer as we want, as long as we don't get sloppy drunk and become a problem.  My wife and I also go to a beer festival each summer put on by a nearby Denver suburb which has grown to about 50-60 brewers.

I don't have a specific craft beers that I like better than others, as I typically like types of beers more than others.  I like wheat/weiss beers, sours, and lagers, and am not a fan of IPA's and other pale ales (too bitter).  The fruity or different flavored craft brews can be hits or misses.  Some are really good, while some are too over-powering or taste too weird.

Tank 7 and Psuedosue are a couple of my favorites. Fairy Nectar is a good Nebraska IPA. If you come across a Georgetown Brewery (Seattle), then I recommend trying the Bodhizafa, which has blown up in WA. People might be more familiar with their other brew, Manny's, which is darn good too. Mac and Jack’s African Amber is pretty solid, I miss those PNW beers.

Kinkaider had a smoked alt a couple years ago that I must have been the only one that liked it because they stopped making it.  But.....I really like Alt beer and the light smoky flavor was awesome.

I’ve had too many to remember. Some notable ones-

Double Chocolate Stout by Fort Collins Brewery. Smoothest chocolatiest stout ever.

Juicy Bits IPA by Weldwerks. I really like bitter IPAs and this is a very good New England hazy style, plus it has a grapefruit flavor.

Death by Coconut by Oskar Blues. A chocolaty coconutty porter.

One of the best beers I’ve ever had was one I brewed myself. It was a black IPA with an IBU of about 110 and almost 9% alcohol. I named it Affirmative Action IPA. I won’t explain the name in today’s climate

Sampled quite a few Bells and others when I was in Michigan. Yes, they have a very good beer scene....almost as good as here in Colorado  :P

I can still remember in college when I thought getting fancy with a beer purchase meant Red Stripe!

@JJ Husker I have a friend who was another dad on my son's old baseball team. If our sons' team was playing anywhere near Greeley, he would make a trip to Weldworks so he could get a growler of Juicy Bits.  He loved that stuff.

@teachercd college was great with the "Red" beers like Red Wolf, Red Dog, and Killians Red, along with all of the "Ice" beers.  We definitely thought we were getting fancy when those were on sale at the liquor store on 27th.

Killians!!!!  I LOVED that!

@ColoradoHusk yeah that stuff is excellent and addictive. The only thing that keeps me from having more of it is the price. Weldwerks is a little too proud of their stuff imo. I understand the higher gravity stuff costs a bit more to brew (bigger grain bill) but dang. Plus now they’ve made so many spinoffs with Juicy Bits in the name, it gets a little confusing.

Also a fan of Breckenridge Brewery. People don’t seem to talk about them much but every beer of theirs I’ve had has been pretty darned good. Buddha’s Hand a Belgian style witbier was very good back in 2010.  It was only available at Old Chicago but they’ve re-released it in liquor stores now for a limited time.

@JJ Husker I will go to large liquor stores by my house like Total Beverage and Daveco and spend so much time just staring at the Colorado beer section.  There are just so many different options.  I will also grab some Boulevard out of KC and Shiner from Texas (lived there for a couple years).  There are also some good Hawaiian beers.

@teachercd @ColoradoHusk was Herms liquor store still in business when you guys we’re on campus? It was at like 17th and Q I believe.

That place had like a permanent line of college students in the 80’s. My brother went to UNL in the mid 70’s. I remember my mom asking him about all the checks he was writing to Herms and he told her they were the only place that would cash a check

@JJ Husker I think Herms was still around in the mid-90s.  I remember the name.  We would usually go to a liquor store near 27th and Vine, because we lived at 30th & T our last 2 years at UNL.  They would have an advertisement every Thursday in the Daily Nebraskan on their weekly specials.  Then we had our roommate who turned 21 months before we did go stock up on beer and booze on Thursday nights, because he had a bad habit of going back to Omaha to see his girlfriend on Friday or Saturday nights.

Mums?  Was that the one we hit up?  Yes, Herms was still there too!  The Daily Nebraskan ads were the best!

@teachercd Mums is on 22nd and O Street, so that wasn't the name of the one we usually went to.  I am blanking on the name, and I couldn't find it on Google maps.  It's a shame that a liquor store can't stay open in a college town anymore.

Mums was known as the place to get kegs of beer in Lincoln.  Other than that, they weren't all that great.
