There was mention that coaches thought it was easy for the visiting team to 'steal" signals.
Someone on Twitter who apparently used to work on the team said it's been brought up for years but never happened because of ticket holders buying tickets to be on the Husker sideline. But thought this would be a good year to make the switch since no one is in the stands.
Another thing I heard (don't know if there's any truth to it) was that there was more open seating in west stadium for fans to spread out because of the cut outs in east, and east stadium wouldn't need near as much room. Easier for fans to be behind the home team in west.
