I hope all of our HuskerBoard friends in Des Moines are OK after today's storms.

It's December 1th, so it's time once again to put a Santa hat on your avatar.

Make your request in the thread in the lounge.

Season's over in 11 days. Hard to believe.

It felt over a week ago. I guess these next two games will determine if we really miss it in the off season. Something tells me we’ll all be glad it’s over for this year.

45 days since Nebraska last won a football game.

Fort Scott Community College - where Nebraska found LaVonte David and Yoshi Hardrick - shuts down its football program effective immediately.

I just learned they call Cam Jurgens "Beef Jurgy" and that may be the best thing I've heard all week.

Beef Jurgy is good, but you know it's not a Slim Jim because Slim Jims are known for their good snaps.

I think I'm going to have to try some of this.

Well yeah. I'll have to get my daughter to pick some up for me.

I’m not too thrilled that it’s going to be a common lager, probably along the lines of Bud, Coors, Miller etc. But even if it’s not the best beer, I will save and reuse the bottles for some of my home brew. Can’t think of anything better than serving my own beer in Dear Old Nebraska Brew bottles during Nebraska football games. The trick will be washing and sanitizing the bottles without damaging the labels.

UNL should allow alcohol in the stadium but only if it's made in Nebraska.

Today is the five-year anniversary of Prince's death. Rest in peace, man.

I've read articles about the great guitar players in rock music,  Prince is sometimes mentioned but never to high, thing is the guy played damn near every instrument in his music,  if he would have stayed with just a guitar I think he's looked alot differently,  not that it matters to me Prince was a genius

He was an artist that I liked his music when I was young.  But, never really understood what a great talent he really was till close to his death.

A long time ago there was a bowling alley under the student union on main campus.  I never bowled there, but I remember seeing it.

Tell me again why we fired him?

Wish him all the best.  He's a great guy that I hope has big success somewhere even though it didn't work out here.  @NUance it was time for a change.  Our record since hasn't been good.  But, I think it is headed in the right direction with a good coach.

I'm also happy for Sammy.  I'm sure he will enjoy the weather there.

One year ago today the Covid pandemic started to really hit home for most Americans. Travel bans, school closings, the end of sports... just everything we've known gone in a few days. I got Covid in January and still can't smell, and can barely taste. Otherwise, the year has been boring, but not too awful. Just very different. I hated the football "season" we had, and volleyball in spring seems weird.

How has the past year treated you? Everyone getting through this OK?

Yes we did/do count it as a flu

death if you have the flu and die from complications, but it's complicated because many people don't get ill and seek treatment as soon as they would with COVID so they no longer test positive.

    https://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/burden/faq.htm

    What are seasonal influenza-related deaths?

Seasonal influenza-related deaths are deaths that occur in people for whom influenza infection was likely a contributor to the cause of death, but not necessarily the primary cause of death.

I don't understand the point of this skepticism. You just said it's extremely deadly. COVID causes a number of complications that ultimately lead to death, and comorbidities contribute to the severity of the disease as well. People with COVID can develop a multitude of complications from pneumonia, blood clots, renial issues, heart problems, organ failure, etc. Those all count as COVID deaths.

Let's say the number were exaggerated by 4 times. That's still almost double the average deaths in a normal flu season.

I threw a ton of money in the stock market when everything was down a year ago.  So it's actually been a pretty good year for me financially.   Which is actually kind of hard to be proud about with so many people struggling.

@The Dude wish I would have thrown more in.
