Targeting, when the tackler goes low, but the ball carrier drops their body level to absorb the hit and there is head to head contact.  The defender did what he was supposed to do, but it was the action of the ball carrier that caused it.

Holding- it is only used against Nebraska anyway.

How is this a blindside block?

@funhusker What is absolutely mind boggling and frustrating about the video in the tweet I posted was that the KC player, basically didn't move much.  The Denver player, ran into his area, the KC player simply took a step to the side and braced for the guy to run into HIM.

Holding calls on Offensive Tackles. DE Pass rushers have been flopping for years.  It's awful.

Also, I hate un-intentional grounding (receiver in the area) concept.  I think the QB gets away with getting a sack by throwing it 30 yards out of bounds, on a big defensive rush play.  It's not fair.  I think the QB should have to throw the ball away in bounds or get intentional grounding.  And not "it reached the LOS" bull crap.  Let the defense hit the QB, sack him, gain momentum for the defense.  QB get away with everything  /rant

Get rid of all penalties. Prison rules! I’m talking Rollerball, Houston vs Tokyo final match rules.

Since targeting has already been taken, I want to advocate for the elimination of the new rule that will inevitably be implemented because of the Pitt QB fake motion sliding and juking the defender for a TD.  Clutch move.

Clutch? That is a chickensh#t move. Smart if you get away with it but that should be at least a 15.

It was basically a fancy juke and now they'll blow it out of proportion, just watch.

@Redux Ehhh... he's not the first to do it, but he definitely got the most coverage for it.

I'm not advocating for it to be a penalty but it should blow the play dead if a QB does that... like a knee hitting the ground. If we're going to say that defenders can't tackle a QB that's sliding, then we certainly can't allow said QB to exploit the rule.

And once they make it a rule, they will get trigger happy flagging it.  Just like everything else.

Well that's why I said don't make it a penalty. Just make it like a dead ball play or something... like the runner's knee hitting the ground. Ref sees a QB go to slide, QB changes mind, ref blows whistle and the ball gets placed where the QB started the slide.

Since sliding and becoming a defenseless player is not going to go away it doesn't make any sense to enable people to exploit it.

I would prefer loosening the restrictions on defenders trying to make plays, but sure dead ball would be better than a flag.  But they never take the logical route when adding rules.

What’s the rule say?  I know the ball is spotted where the QB “starts” the slide, but does it say what “finishing” a slide looks like?

Maybe just make it reviewable.  If the QB starts a slide, spot the ball there.  Whether he “finishes” a slide or not.

Or… Get rid of the slide rule all together. If you have the guts to run with it, accept the consequences.
