Not exactly the same but I never thought I liked spicy food.  But I've acquired a taste for it over the last 15 years or so.  Looking back, I think it's probably just because we never even had any spicy food at home and I assumed I didn't like it so I didn't try it.  I still don't like stuff clear to the top of the scale but items that are more mid-scale are pretty good.

Ground beef tacos. My dad didn't believe in using much if any salt or seasoning.

Well we lose taste buds as we grow.  But no, my moms and aunties cooked great!!!!!

I will say that I love raw tomatoes, raw carrots, and raw celery.  If you put any of those in a pot or heat it, I will never eat it.  EVER.  I'd rather drink water and starve to death.

I hated liver and onions growing up.  My mom would make it several times a year and I just couldn't stomach it.

Well, my wife likes it, so a couple years ago, I found a venison liver and onions recipe and made it for her.  I actually really liked it.  I need to make that again.

I used to hate guacamole when I was younger, and I think that's because a lot of fast food places or Midwesterners will add sour cream to guacamole, and sour cream is the worst.  I was in my late 20s when someone made fresh guacamole with tomatoes, onions, cilantro, and jalapeno peppers and I loved it!!!  I'm a huge fan of avocados and guacamole now.

I also didn't like tomatoes for most of my life, but now will add a tomato slice or 2 to sandwiches, burgers, etc.

Guac is a great call.  I wasn't a big fan as a kid and then similar to you, had it made fresh table side and it was freaking incredible.

I still can’t enjoy Au gratin potatoes. I thought maybe if I got older and didn’t have them out of a Betty Crocker box… but freshly made… I would enjoy them.

Nope.

Tater tot casserole.   It's still not great, but it's at least edible if the tots are crispy.

Canned peas. My mom often prepared LeSueur canned peas or put them in a casserole and I absolutely hated them. I thought that meant I hated peas but I discovered fresh peas and even frozen peas are not bad at all. Still won’t touch a canned pea with a ten foot pole.

The answer is not liver and onions. Taste bad regardless of the chef.

Liver & Onions is awesome. Must use calf’s liver not old cow liver. I soak it in milk for about an hour then coat in flour and brown it. Add plenty of sweet yellow onions while it finishes. Might have that tonight.  :P

Not sure if it was cooked poorly but I HATED asparagus as a kid. Can't honestly remember how Mom cooked it because I wouldn't so much as sniff it.

But as a proud big boy now asapargus simply cooked with some butter and garlic is pretty dang good. Just gotta be sure to sufficient cook it or it's like munching on sticks of green fiberglass.
