One time or monthly?

My three neighbors (right, left, across) pay $1200-2000 per month for lawn and hedging, but also includes tree trimming at times.  Same (rough) price it's been for 10 years.

If you are like me, and in shape, buy equipment and do it yourself.  Save $12K-24 each year.  If it's a one time deal, and 100 degrees out, do it 2hrs a day over 2 weeks, and you will be glad you did it.  But also, don't overspend on equipment.  Get what you need to get it done, and do it.

Good luck.

Man that sounds like a lot. I was thinking I'd get it done every few years, but I need it now. I've gotten quotes of $2,000 and $2,900.

Pretty hard to judge if that's appropriate because we don't know the extent of the work that needs done.  I got an estimate to take three trees down last year and it was over $9,000.  One ended up blowing down and I cut it up myself.  The other two are impossible for me to do.  Still trying to figure out what I'm going to do.

I had a crew come to our house a couple years ago. They took out two smaller trees, trimmed up all the rest, and hauled away a ton of branches/trunks that I had already cut down: $900.00.

Keep in mind everything is going to sound way more expensive than it should these days.

@The Dude is about to get reported for saying that!  You forgot to mention that it is Putin's fault!  Haha

@Moiraine hey, what did yall do?  I am fortunate that we have so many lawn & tree trimmer crews here that you can easily find someone for $900-1000.  Did you take care of it?

@admo we got a cheaper quote of $1,650 so I'll probably pay that. We have 9 trees and I don't know the last time they were done (just moved in last August).

Super late to this party, probably too late, but figured I'd throw in my two cents.

We had a huge limb fall of a tree last year and get stuck about 25-30 feet in the air. We used a company my neighbors had previously used. It cost $550 for them to come remove the limb and then they also trimmed the entire tree up to a height of 15 feet. Another quote we had had for the same thing was north of $1500 IIRC. So tree trimming (like a lot of services) can be all over the place.

Tree removal is usually a lot more expensive. We're probably going to need to have that done soon as our front yard's pine tree is dead (killed by invasive species). I'm expecting that to be at least a couple thousand.
