This isn’t directed at the OP, just a general thought. Paying for movers is something anyone over the age of 25 should do every time. Your friends don’t want to help you out, so stop asking them. It’s not fun, not matter how much pizza and beer you offer them. Professional movers get it done way more efficiently and safely, and people should price it into the cost of buying or renting a new place.
The "first place" and/or "right after college", that is the move where you force your friends to help you out. That is it. Any move after that, forget about it. hire movers.
Even if you think you don't have a lot of stuff, you do.
I got guilted into helping a friend move about 10 years ago. into a new construction home that had to be in the 350K range at the time. Somehow they could not find another 700-1000 dollars to hire movers.
The thing about local moves is how cheap and quickly it can be done by hiring movers. I have moved houses twice since moving back to Denver in 2008. I hired the same moving company both times. They were able to move nearly everything for 4 people living in a 3-bedroom house in a matter of a few hours. Plus, we didn't have to worry about harming our furniture, scratching our walls, or breaking our backs. I don't really have any friends, so I couldn't ruin any friendships, anyway.
I will say this, that first move, after college, there is something fun (even though it sucks) moving stuff with your friends. The moving part sucks and you never start on time and always have to make more trips than you think and it never gets done in one day, as in your s#!t is still all over the place. But just the joking around and then hitting the bars up after you get all your crap in the place, that is fun.
