Riley's Head Coaching Career -- Bad losses & Ranked Wins

As NU and Coach Riley had another "bad loss" over this past weekend to Northern Illinois, it was Riley's 3rd "bad loss" in less than 30 games as coach at NU.  What do I consider a "bad loss"?  I consider a bad loss to a team that ends up with a losing record or a non-Power 5 conference team...

    Small WR's

I know that most of our WR's have been highly recruited players out of high school, but wouldn't it be good to have some bigger/taller WR's?  Morgan is the tallest WR at 6'1".  Lindsey and Spielman look tiny out there, and aren't a big target for the QB. Maybe Riley likes to get his big...

    Fall Camp Updates - Quarterbacks

I couldn't find the Camp Update thread for the Quarterbacks, so mods can put this there. It looks like Gebbia is pressing O'Brien for the #2 QB job. That's very interesting to me, as I think Gebbia has the biggest upside of the QB's. He may not be assured of a redshirt season, after all.

    Chatelain Podcast w/ John Cook

Dirk Chatelain has started a new podcast series, where he interviews people that are notable in the state of Nebraska sports scene. His first interview is with John Cook. I am about 20 minutes in, and it's a pretty good interview so far. It's available on Itunes and Google play...

    Changes to Youth Football?

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/01/31/sports/youth-football-wants-to-save-the-game-by-shrinking-it.html Some interesting thoughts by USA Football to make changes to youth football. I think a smaller field and fewer players would make sense. Youth soccer clubs have always used smaller fields and...

    Surrender Whites Today

From the pics I have seen in pregame, NU is wearing all white (jersey and pants) today. These aren't the alternates that were worn against Northwestern, either. Gonna lose for sure.

Husker jersey I have never seen before

I am somewhat of a uniform geek, especially when it comes to the Huskers. I guess in the 1980 Sun Bowl, Nebraska wore two different jerseys, made my two different manufacturers. One of the jerseys included a large "NEBRASKA" across the front, above the numbers (much like the long-time Oklahoma...

    Coach Cav Free Pass?

I understand that there have been a high number of injuries to the offensive linemen this year, but why does Coach Cav seem to get a free pass from criticism by the fans? The former o-line coach was constantly crucified by the fans, and the o-line doesn't seem to be playing much better under...

    Various Passing Statistics Through 10/24/2016

I know a lot of Husker fans get down on Tommy for his "low" completion percentage and that he's not an accurate/efficient passer. I think completion % is only one measure to evaluate a QB, and there are many other valuable stats to measure how well a QB (especially Tommy) is playing. While NU...

    Play cards for today's game

I'm on my phone so I don't know how to copy and paste a tweet on it, but the Nebraska Equipment twitter feed had a tweet with a picture of some play cards for today's game. Looks like we will use them as Indiana like to try and steal signals from the sidelines. Interesting move.

Husker Chalk Talk - Wyoming Game

I saw this site tweeted out on Twitter and I thought it was pretty cool. It gives a little review of the X's and O's on certain plays from each week. Here is a review of the Wyoming game, with some focus on Run-Pass Option (RPO's) that Langsdorf/Riley have designed for Tommy. I really like...

Tommy Armstrong's Passing Game Breakdown vs. Fresno

With only 10 official passing attempts by Armstrong vs. Fresno State, there seems to be a lot of concern about Langsdorf being afraid to use Tommy in the passing game, and Tommy continuing to be poor in the passing game. I am not saying either of those opinions are wrong, but I did want to go...

Official "People you see at this week's Husker game" Thread

Ok, I don't get to many Husker games any more, but when I do, I like to people watch, observe things, and make mental notes. This thread is about the different types of people you will see at this week's Husker game. My list isn't intended to hurt people's feelings, but just have a little fun...

Would you be ok with NU winning 1-2 "big games" each year, if it meant losing 1-2 games they "shouldn't"

This topic came up on the blog post on the front page. I commented that if NU doesn't go undefeated at home FOR CONFERENCE GAMES in 2016, it's an epic failure. That was followed up with a comment that "I would trade an Ohio State win for an Illinois loss at home". I disagree with this type of...
