    "Let me count the ways"

I feel pretty confident that the team we see and the effort we see on the field on 8/31 will be promising (to say the least). I have a hard time thinking of ANYTHING that Matt Rhule has done since being named Head Coach that has not resonated with me (and most Nebraskans). This is not just...

"Making sure that all of the most up-to-date training and recovery modalities are part of our process."

Recommend listening to Bussin' With The Boys podcast that dropped this morning, featuring a long segment with Coach Rhule. (Starts about 45 minutes into the podcast). Still listening to it, but THIS was a major takeaway, for me: At 1:25:00 Coach Rhule was asked "Coming to Nebraska, what were...

Looking for clues: The Philosophy of Harry Heistand's School of Offensive Line

I thought the most interesting part of Rhule's press conference yesterday was his mention of both he and Raiola subscribing to the Harry Heistand school of coaching O-Line. (I'd love to know more about the "three schools" he referred to and how they differ from one another "like driving on the...

    Thank you Bill Busch

If you want to go back and remember the state of affairs when Frost was fired & Mickey was elevated from Assistant HC to Interim - we were looking at the remainder of a season with Chin’s defense. Busch was moved from Special Teams to DC and you were blind if you did not see a stunning...

    “It’s the little things…”

(AND the big things) but I’d like this thread to be lessons in Leadership that we believe should be a given - the attitude of people who are going to be WINNERS. Please contribute your favorites. Here’s one:

    What did we learn: Rutgers

We learned that MJ & Whipple understand clock management & how to use time outs. If Frost was on the sideline for that last drive, Rutgers gets the ball with over 5 minutes - needing just a FG.

Serious question: Does UNL have radio calls done in Spanish?

Because this one by KU is amazing & deserves imitation - particularly if we want to grow the fan base among Hispanic players parents & grandparents. (All sports)

    Let's get this party started...

I know that there is a whole separate forum for Husker Videos, but this thread is for anyone to link to their favorite Husker video to "set the tone" for the 2022 Season. They may not be new to many/most, but to those who may be seeing them for the first time, you will be doing a real...

Nebraska STILL fails to make the Top 25

Thank goodness. There are other 3-5 teams on the list: https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/college-football-rankings-umass-retains-no-1-status-in-the-bottom-25-as-critical-stretch-begins/

    Northwestern: What did THEY learn?

Forgive me, but it is Wednesday and I am STILL basking in the glow of the Huskers performance in all three phases of the game (and, most significantly, our reshuffled OL performance and balls-to-the-wall playcalling). I'm enjoying reading the "takes" from the Northwestern journalists at The...

Pelini’s interview on The Boys podcast

This thread is relevant to the Husker Football forum for 2 reasons: it’s a past Husker head coach AND it sheds light on some things during Pelini’s tenure. First off: skip 20 minutes into this podcast. You won’t miss ANY substance. Secondly, you should know that I was not a huge fan of Bo...

1995 Huskers on very short list (with 2019 LSU) as Best Ever

https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/28479186/lsu-joe-burrow-national-championship-season-places-tigers-greatest-ever my iPhone This is a very entertaining & well written article about the LSU program this year, and where it came from - but I’d like to connect some dots for...

    Release the hounds!

With only 4 games left in the (regular) season, who do we have that we might see now - that we are planning on 4-game redshirting? Rahmir Johnson is the big one, in my mind. But who do we have at other positions that we might as well get a look at in the final 4?

Some thoughts on a connection between the 4 Game Redshirt rule and Transfer Portal rule changes

I believe that RULE changes can be a wildcard the first year or two that they are in effect. Sometimes there are unintended (or unanticipated) consequences from a rule change and sometimes there is a (at least TEMPORARY) advantage for the teams that figure out how to exploit a rule change before...

Moos looks smarter by the day...

AD Moos is one smart cookie. The timing of the football facilities upgrade announcement was not picked out of a hat. When he said “We need to get to 6 wins” he wasn’t lying...

How ‘bout those Chip Kelly Bruins? 50 pts in 19 minutes

Entertaining read from the Denver Post: *** How ’bout them Bruins. UCLA has been the object of jokes and derision throughout college football — and here on the Hotline (guilty!) — for its inept performance through three weeks. Guess ol’ Charles Edward was just saving up his best material for...

“Pour the cobs on” or “Put the cobs to it”

Saw this in a FB post & thought it was good: *** "Pour on the cobs" or "Put the cobs to it". I haven't thought of this expression for a while but I remember my grandfather saying it and CLEARLY understanding what he meant. But, given its roots in CORN harvesting (the cob is what is left...

    2 QBs on the field?

With Frost's comments about "McCaffrey making plays with his legs" and wishing his QB group was "in a 4x1 relay competition",  a comment in The Athletic article "Ranking Nebraska's offensive position groups: No. 1 may be a gimme, but there's guesswork at another key spot" raised an intriguing...
