Can we start a petition or something to lock that thread? It's a dumpster that is full of tiny bags of dog s#!t that have been doused in creosote and lit on fire, only for the fire department to try and put it out by throwing more dog s#!t on it.

If posters can't vent their frustration in that thread, it just spread to other parts of the board.

It's like the "What did we learn" threads after a loss (edit: or after some wins too) - a necessary evil.

True, which is why I won't push to have the thread locked.

I do, truly, love that gif though.

I thought it was kind of nice to see fresh voices and old faces.

If it gets Cy the Cyclone to post, it can't be all bad.

Also, the stupidest posts on HuskerBoard are no worse than stupid posts on any board, or many of the opinions voiced by highly compensated national sports pundits and coaches.

There was a Tuff Tiger sighting yesterday!

Yeah, most of this is said in jest, it's not too bad. Desmond Howard and Wilbon can certainly pound sand with their self-righteous bullcrap. But in one of those threads, a lot of people are having a hard time grasping the concept that perhaps UNL faculty and the football admin/coaches might have different priorities. That's.... pretty stupid.

The only thing bothering me about that thread is the person/persons who like to reignite the conversations of why we should all like/hate Fauci, why masks are smart/stupid, why COVID is/isn't serious, why Trump is/isn't a maniac, etc.

Otherwise, I think it's best to have as few locations as possible for the conversation. One thing I like to try and avoid is having people create multiples of the same thread (like what happens in places like Reddit all the time) just to share the same opinion(s) being discussed in an already active thread. We lock that one and we'll probably see a lot of similar threads pop up.

These types of threads also have a tendency to die on their own. Or, in the case of the SF Megathread, it'll get to the point where there really isn't anything new to discuss and it's time to move on to fresher things. At the moment, all of this is still very fresh.
