Keeping a close eye in the political forum in regards to "Texas Cop, "Police Brutality", Black kids. As a former police officer I have my own personal opinions in regard to the situation but as a mod, I feel it is best to stay out of it and just monitor this ticking time bomb.

Just because you are a Mod now doesn't preclude you from having an opinion.

Fairness with "most" posters is what is needed.

Don't blame you though. Many threads in the P&S are off limits to me also. I'll state an opinion but I don't have the patience to continue the argument past it's logical end.

My son is a LEO here in SOKAL. I have many strong opinions too since most of my friends are either nurses, doctors or LEO's. I catch myself every once in a while previewing a post and know I am going too far and just delete it. Wasted time.

Yeah, being a mod doesn't mean you have to change. One neat trick is to remind everyone that the topic (whatever it is) will have strong opinions on each side, but that we're all Husker fans and the members have proven on a number of hot button topics that they can debate without getting personal. Then, tell them, "For example, I believe XXX" and tell them why, and that if you can keep your cool given your background, they can as well.

But don't feel you shouldn't post.

 
I should stay out of those threads, but I have a hard time doing that because some people just won't get it and never will. Pisses me off.........

My son seldomly frequents the board because of many members are unsympathetic to the plight of the rank and file LEO's. Yet, he felt that it was better to leave well enough alone rather that say something that could cause them to become even more jaded towards LEOs. But I told him at least he isn't a dentist
