Glad everyone got out safely.

Gretna, Neb. (WOWT) Fire tore through a home belonging to former Nebraska Cornhusker football player Aaron Graham in Gretna early Wednesday morning.

Firefighters from several jurisdictions were on the scene near 7500 South 240th Street.

The Sheriff’s Department says it appears the house was hit by lightning. Those inside were able to get out safely.

Graham was a captain on the 1995 National Championship team.

A neighbor told a WOWT 6 News crew that she heard the lightning strike and then heard what she called "explosions" as the morning went on.

Fire crews were on the scene by 5 a.m. as plumes of black smoke rose up from the burning home and drifted over the rural countryside.
