Advice on which forum to post in

sarge sent me a PM asking:

I want to post that story from the above link.

Does it belong in the outdoors section or does it get moved to the politics and religion forum?

I told him that either one was OK, since it has ties to both, but what do you guys think? My replie(s):

I think you could make the argument for either forum. So I'll leave it up to you as a judgment call...I guess it depends on what kind of thread you want to make it, because it can be both outdoors news or politics discussion. Think it should be fine wherever you want to put it. I'll see what the other mods think, but for now just go ahead and pick one

To add: I do notice this thread (http://www.huskerboard.com/index.php?/topic/40943-selling-guns/) having been moved to the politics and religion forum, so maybe a policy on discussion thread would be more appropriate, even as it pertains to an outdoorsy topic. Personally, if you post in either I wouldn't move it.

I would say that anything likely to turn into a political debate should go into Politics, since there's a particular brand of vitriol that comes with politics that you're not going to see in Outdoors discussions (typically).

However, if there's a question if something belongs in one forum or another, it's best to just make a guess and move it later if the discussion takes a particular direction.
