I'm sure many of you are familiar with the Touchtunes jukebox that are commonly found in bars across the country. Has anyone noticed that when you play an older song the volume output is not as great as a newer song?
Its due to the "Loudness War". Producers make the recording sound "louder", they did some of this with vinyl, but were limited by the physical limits of the medium. Once CD's took over they had a larger dynamic range, so producers could punch it up.
