Our town swtiched to 8 man football about 5 years ago. I began my career in the middle of Nebraska at a small school as the dc of an 8 man team. Spent 2 yrs there and moved to SWI. We played 11 man for the first 5 years and then because of most of the conference that we are in were struggling with numbers, the entire conf. switched..... We still ave. 40 players a year and could easily play 11 man, but it would mean that we would have to travel at least 1 hr. to the next closest 11 man school "in our class".
I really think 8 man is much more difficult to coach. I would love to visit with someone who has had experience playing or coaching 8 man. We would like to go to a version of the "spread offense", but not entirely sure which formation is the best.
