Any of you have experience in this field?

Hey guys, do any of you have or do you know anyone who works/worked in the insurance investigator field? I'm thinking of getting out of law enforcement all together for several reasons and this field seems like a field I can take my investigative experience into and do fairly well at it. I'm just wondering what the basics of the job are, pay, etc................thanks in advance.

Look at all the big insurance companies. Contact their HR dept.'s.

Government dole jobs are the bomb. Workers Comp investigator. stuff like that! :)

Sorry to hear you feel the need to leave LE.

I'm either going to leave the field all together or I'm going to go to another department at this point. The pay thing at my work has really pissed me off and turned me sour towards the city I work for. Ever since I was a little kid all I wanted to do was be a cop................this b!^@h has caused me to rethink that, really pisses me off. She's not the only reason though, I'm tired of not seeing my boys every day and sick of all the things I'm missing. Good thing is I have a great resume and could get hired at another department or the insurance investigator field with no problem.

My son has put in for 3 different special divisions of RSO. SET, Aviation and Motors. He's been on patrol for 5 years and wants to learn a different way to enforce the laws :) .

Sounds like it would behoove you to check out some other departments and see what they offer as a lateral transfer. Might get a better gig and more family time too.

Watched a show, Andrew Zimmern the other night, in Des Moines. Sudanese food. WOW

You don't think a few more days/weeks moght help you regain your trust in the department?

I'm still going to test for another department so I at least have an option there in case I need it. I am looking at the insurance investigator field as well just because it'll bring some sense of normalcy to my family if need be. Working evenings, holidays, and weekends eventually gets old and this city is run by morons. At least if I worked for a city that was run well and treated us fairly I could deal with the other stuff a lot better.

That is probably the worst thing about LEO work. Rotating schedules; tough on family life.

My son is lucky that the sheriff here is proactive about keeping enough deputies on the street. Contract cities also have stipulated their minimum staffing levels. $$$

Your only problem with finding a city that treats you fairly is that it's run by politicians. They come and go. No guarantee the next election cycle some buttmunch isn't elected and guts the department. But it seems that if the Sheriff stays away from bad publicity, drama and

The PI route has advantages and drawbacks also. Economy ups and downs, layoffs, etc. Upper management can be cantankerous at times too :D
