I'm sorting through some of the mess here and I guess I'll just run down this one because it really is a mess:
Thread: http://www.huskerboard.com/index.php?/topic/61581-bos-presser/
Spin-off: http://www.huskerboard.com/index.php?/topic/61586-bo-the-jerk-thread-discussion/
Two reports in the report center about this.
With no prior warnings I went ahead and gave GI56 a 2-day suspension to cool off and a warning. Very arguably he deserved a ban outright on the first go because of the stuff he said, and the problems in general he was causing. However I wanted to be careful in dealing with a situation where, despite his sh#t-stirring, he does make one good initial point: the responses to his thread, which you'll find in the Woodshed spinoff, were very unproductive, many of which borderline or past-borderline rule-breaking, and allowing that kind of stuff to stand, even in venting period, is bad for the board.
It's a huge pet peeve of mine when members start mocking or jumping on each other for no reason, especially when they gang up on somebody - FLU, etc, etc. Paul's a great guy and a good member of this board but he does this far too often. He isn't the only one. "IBTL" posts are terrible. They clog up a thread and render it useless, but then the action of locking ends up tacitly condoning all that thread-derailing stuff to begin with.
(Hence, why I moved everything to the 'shed on this one.)
Thoughts?
