Big ten helmets

It was sort of voted down in all the reorganization talk, beginning HERE. Of course, that was prior to the new skin - when we were discussing the new layout, in fact. Now that we've seen it in action - and did a little other cleanup such as the number of pinned topics in Husker Football - it might be time to reconsider. We also have the logo for the Big Ten - the new one. It looks like this:

But if we used that, it'd take more work to link each team's logo back to their official pages.

 
Hey guys--

I have my last final of the week tomorrow so after that I'll be on break from school until the 10th. I'll try and get to a lot of board stuff (graphics wise) over that time. I'll look into new helmet logos while I'm at it.

If we could put it up there similiar to what AR just put in his post I wouldn't be totally against it. I would rather not see something HUGE up there like the helmets from before.

My biggest issue is having way to much stuff at the top of the page. It'll start to look cluttered and unprofessional and I don't think our members are gonna like all that at the top of the page. Just a quick question, what would we benefit from doing this or why would we want to do this?

Okay - here's an idea. What if we used addict's version, but make each half the size? Also, how about we break them up into the divisions, with the divisons names centered underneath or above the group? Then, place them above the HuskerNation/Little Husker/GamedayGames banner - one division to the left, and one to the right? We'd again link each image to that school's official web site.

Just spitballing here - if you have any ideas, throw them out there. And if you don't like the idea of putting them up there at all, sing out.

I'm thinking growth versus looks. As soon as the bowl game is over everyone focuses on BIG 10..including fans outside Husker country. I want them here. i want them to see these helmets and know we are the best board for talking Huskers. I see a huge opportunity here to grow our board alot....I beleive it's going to be a nice window especially around the official start date this summer.

 
Okay, fair enough, just as long as it's done tastefully it could work. I would like to see what AR is proposing and go from there with the discussion. I'm sure that'll help everyone see where it could go and how it could work.

How about after the bowl game we look to seriously do this. I really think there will be a ton of attention given to us and the big 10 in general. This can really go far with gettging hundreds of new Big 10 members.

If we play with it enough we will get it right. That I'm very confident of. Remember for the most of the next 8 months there won't be headlines really of any sort. helmits can be prominently displayed.

 
I'm also thinking Nebraska is is ranked highly in the recruiting rankings for the country and also the Big 10....we will gain activity from that as well.

I just think this will give the impression and rightfully so of being Big 10 friendly.

 
Yeah - this will be a good time to court other Big 10 school fans and gain some good members.

Anyone with graphics skillz want to play with the helmets and see what you can come up with?

 
We may want to set them up in order of division, but I wouldn't put the division names up considering the comish is even having second thoughts on the names.
