I locked that thread in rumorville, I'm tired of listening to these whiny little babies because EZ-E was just trying to show that these journalists aren't really journalists and are just printing message board information. If anyone has a problem with that let me know..................apparently we have a lot of wanna be mods around here. I would not have allowed such a thing to occur on the main football page, but rumorville is just that................a place for rumors.

Problem was EZ-E let me know about that thread after he had already started it and it was out of control. I asked him what gives with the Bo to Tennessee rumors and where he had heard that and then he told me about the situation. Probably a mistake on my part, but these guys don't need to push the issue by basically trying to troll me now.

 
Also, I never remember any personal attack in that thread and no report was ever made on that thread.............no idea what he's talking about?

 
I think what Army is talking about is the fact that EZ-E called everyone an idiot for believing his rumor. When Army called him out on it, EZ lost it a little bit. Here's one of EZ's posts later in the thread. I think this needs dealing with, like a warning for... something. He also called the whole board stupid, which is not cool.

This was a blatant attempt at trolling for me and you guys took the bait, then when I admit to making this up, people cant understand that there was no truth to it and carry on with it. Where do you think information like this comes from? The fact of the matter is you can find legit journalists and media outlets that rip information right off of message boards. I have seen this a ton actually. This was to satirize said incidents and see who would all talk about it. Looks like there are a few that have mentioned it, so I have had my fun with overreacting Husker fans.

EZ is a nice kid, but he's a kid. I know for a fact he knows guys on the team, including specifically Kenny Bell, but I don't know that having him here on the site is worth not doing something about this incident. This is, to me, an incident. He should get a warning. If he leaves because of the warning, I'll be sad to see him go, but that's the way it goes.

I don't think his thread is cool. Something needs to be said. Does everyone agree it deserves a warning? If so, I won't puss out this time, and I'll give him the warning myself.

Speaking of me pussing out, how do we feel about that last warning to PaulCrewe? He clearly personally attacked that guy, but that guy turned out to be a troll. Do we keep that warning active or rescind it?

 
I think we rescind that warning cause that guy was a tool bag just looking for a response from someone. Once I seen his agenda I felt bad for giving Paul a warning cause of the d-bag. I agree that EZ needs a warning on this, it was a mistake on my part to allow the thread to continue on some level after he told me the truth. The thread HAD already taken off though and I think he came clean fairly quickly after he told me. Just trying to justify my lack of judgment at that time. Then he decides to talk about it in the other thread!? That's why he got a response from me in that thread out in the open for everyone to see. He's caused me a lot of headaches today and I'm just pissed about the situation and it's left a sour taste in my mouth.

 
I think we can take down Paul's warning level.

Lately I treat most temper flares as stuff that should belong in the 'Shed, but was posted outside of it. Right now we have a pretty active (on our part) campaign against trolls and it's unsurprising for members to naturally take part in it and pile on. I don't like it when it happens and they need a reminder when they do it...but it doesn't constitute as a ban-worthy offense, nor does it make them a problem user.

The backlash against this EZ thread is this misconception that it was officially sanctioned by the Mods. It wasn't. I am fine with EZ posting it; it is rumorville, after all, home to Saltwater Aquarium threads and the like. When he gets grief for making stuff up then he should know that he needs to handle it and was asking for it to begin with. That's stuff that can all sort itself out...and you're right, knapp, his response to that grief probably merits a warning.

Unrelated, but I hesitate in general to take very strong actions because it seems like the members feel they are getting some confusing, mixed messages. By default I use the baseline "Is he a problem user?" rubric. If not, I am content to give them warnings and reminders ad infinitum. We are in a role to manage those guys who aren't problem users so that they can become the good contributors they are, without the line-skating. Moderate the posts as needed to keep the board clean, give users interested enough to be here the chance to understand our community guidelines and be a part of it.

 
I'll "warn" EZ without giving him a warning then, right? A PM saying, "I get why you did that, but don't do it again," that kind of thing, right?

I've had two bottles of wine tonight, a sh**ty day at work, and way more trouble at home with a sick wife than I've bargained for.

It doesn't make a difference if it's an official logged warning or not. They won't know either way. I would probably record it on the log anyway, but it wouldn't subjectively contribute to EZ being banned (at least by me).

 
Sorry to hear about your wife Lance, thanks for warning EZ over this whole issue and I adjusted Paul's warning level back down and sent him a PM. What a mess.............
