I think there's a thread on this somewhere but couldn't find it.

It was noted on the board that when a user types in "r u c k u s" (minus the spaces) the board is changing it to "f'up" when it is posted.

I verified this in a test thread.

Fixed. No idea when or how it got added to the Bad Words filter. Thanks, Mav. Tell Goose "Hi" for me. Oh, that's right - he's dead. My bad.

Every time the discussion turns to all the fans wearing black, it becomes somewhat of a running joke that "black-out" (less the hyphen) is a censored word. It gets changed to b*******.

Perhaps this was done as a joke but I was just curious. Doesn't necessarily need changed. Just wondering if there was a back-story.

Yeah, there's a back story...

For a few years we were inundated with black-out (hereafter BO) threads. Inevitably, they included the "suggestion" that the team wear black uniforms. The, shall we say, younger more callow members would only say that it would look "cool" and would be "intimidating". The far wiser, more mature, and more intelligent among us would point out that, first, black isn't one of the school colors and therefore would be ridiculous looking and second, that if wearing black was so intimidating EVERY team that wore black WOULD WIN EVERY GAME - which obviously doesn't happen. The threads would quickly degenerate into flame wars with the kiddies on one side and the intelligent members on the other, along the lines of traditionalists verses idiots. So, partially to stem the tide and partially because it appealed to his warped sense of humor, Eric banned the BO word. It worked, mostly. No one ever saw a reason to remove it.

Hey, that's pretty good

Here we are in 2014, wearing black uniforms and still getting inundated with BO threads...
