Board Upgrade / Server Move

Just and FYI: I have schedule the board to be upgraded and moved to a new server this weekend. I'm fairly sure it will actually happen this time, but I won't be placing any bets on it. I don't have an exact time but it will happen this Saturday or Sunday between noon and midnight. I believe it will be happening Saturday but the invision people, I've hired then to do the move, don't do schedules.

Once the board is upgraded some things we're use to will no longer function. The current skin won't work and any modifications we've done will no longer work. I know some of you guys like messing with that stuff so this should be fun! Right? :|

Guys should we place a note underneath the advertisments?

 
We could post a general notice right away, and add details as we get them. We really just need to avoid the initial "omg whys is the board not working; why does it look different; everyone panic".

 
There is no definite date and time, they don't schedule upgrades. It will either happen this saturday or sunday between noon and midnight. Probably saturday, and I would guess it would happen sometime in the afternoon. I requested saturday but if they have other higher priority things it will be put off till sunday.

Anyway, I think our members are use to unscheduled down time.. ;)

 
On a scale of 1-10 where are they related to customer service or is it pro bono??? :)

I don't want to badmouth a freebie server but if it costs money THEY SUCK

'bout as bad as the Edison or Gas Co in sokal. :)

I'm still cheap and easy though.

Frank, I think just copy and pasting what Joe has here would be good enough.

 
I just got an email from the people doing the transfer. They said they'd be doing it Saturday afternoon. So if everything goes smoothly it should be transferred by then. After they finish I also have to switch the DNS on our side which can sometimes take a while to take effect..

 
Finally, the board is upgraded and moved to the new server. Took a lot longer than I thought it would, the thing took 4 hours just to rebuild all the posts. But it's done, and I'm done. Signing off.. :)

 
Smoking, sure why not. ;) I even made it look nice and red like it use to look, fun stuff. Okay, I'm going to leave the rest of the setup to you guys. It's pretty much the same. You'll see the ip address in the address bar, the invision board people are fixing that..

Take some getting used to but I like it.
