bshirt

Done. By the way, he posted under 180 different, unique IP addresses, from all over the map. So, he's posting behind a router, possibly even an onion router. Which means he can probably beat the IP ban and register under a different user name. Keep an eye out, guys.

bshirt is located in China, working there I believe (and I think it's a temporary basis) and bouncing around a lot of different places. He may be even using something like tor just so he's able to access Facebook from behind the Great Firewall.

I'm really not too sorry he's gone. He's been given plenty of chances and we've shown him a lot of latitude in the past. His attitude has only gotten worse, and I'm pretty sure it's because of the posting atmosphere at HuskerOnline.com. I see him posting there a lot and he gets into it quite often with a few guys who also pull stuff that would get them banned right quick over here, but it's allowed.

Wait - IP ban? What did I miss?

I know he's sometimes abrasive, but we're banning him outright, forever?

EDIT - OK, I see from the other thread that this is his 3rd strike. I would suggest we look at this guy like HuskerJock, or Blackshirt007, someone who is trouble, but not worth permabanning.

This needs input from more people. Am I alone in this assessment, or does most everyone think he needs to go?

Hm. I wouldn't (necessarily) have done the ban myself (and this wouldn't be the first time on a requested ban, but I lean towards not banning). But I also think he's had his fill of chances and is just getting more and more antagonistic whenever he posts. It's to the point where it really is taking away from the board.

Given that it's done already it would be hard to reverse. However, if he does come back after a while under a different username with a different IP, I'd be OK with it - provides he understands he is on a very short leash.

Well given that it was his third chance and Eric speaking with us about enough-is-enough a ban was the only option IMO. If he signs up under a different user name and keeps his $hit together then I'm okay with that. It sounds like we can't do much since he's posted under so many different IP's, but if he keeps his crap up it's only a matter of time before he gets into trouble again. Just because someone is a long time poster it doesn't mean they can get away with stuff we wouldn't allow a brand new member to get away with. The board kinda got out-of-control for two reasons, at least IMO, lately. One: We haven't been as tough as we've normally been with folks lately and while we allow a little more to go on in the off-season we put a lockdown on that stuff once the season starts. We didn't do that this year as hard as we have in the past. Two: We've had an influx of morons that are here for no other reason than to cause problems which is a larger part of our problem right now.

You see a large amount of members who are increasingly unhappy about some of this B.S. that's going on and are talking about leaving. I'll be damned if I'm going to allow a bunch of morons to ruin a board that I love and lose a bunch of members that are good posters. I'll ban one to keep ten and I know you all agree with that as long as it's a banable offense.

Specifically regarding Bshirt - I don't think the board is going to be in worse shape if he gets perma-banned. He can be a rational, good poster. But too often he just snipes with anger and angst. I'm not going to lobby to keep him, so if he's gone, he's gone.
