Bucky's trolling status

Haha, funny as hell that nobody can comment on Bucky's trolling status. Good work mods.
Bucky:

Why did a Nebraska player urinate in to a locker with an American Flag flying on top? That's just disrespectful.
Every time something like this comes up I wonder if I accidentally clicked 'lock.' It's happened...

Did someone lock this?

I don't know what thread this is from. I do wonder sometimes if Bucky isn't here to troll. He's certainly not respectful of this place or these fans.

It was a status update. I remember reading it last night without responding and I guess I may have clicked it by accident, but I don't remember that specifically. If none of us intentionally locked it I'll have to let him know it was an accident. Or, perhaps he locked it himself, which he alluded to in response to JJ's status update -- can you do that?

Bucky's an oddball to be sure.

Bucky, Bucky, Bucky. In the thread Junior started to praise Martinez, Bucky goes on and on about how Wisconsin beat Nebraska two of three times and basically derails the thread. He gets called out for it in the Shed, and proceeds to throw a tantrum begging to get banned.

Well, I didn't ban him for this latest bit of nonsense, but I did suspend him.

That thread was getting massively derailed into a TM skills discussion. EZ was going on about how Wisconsin found him extremely difficult to defend and Bucky challenged that point.

We've had an email exchange with Bucky:

...and EZ-E didn't get suspended while I did? Well done Moderators, way to enforce standards equally. How about you explain some of this.

Here's my reply:

Good afternoon, Mr. Owen.
You were suspended for, once again, engaging in baiting and trolling conversations on HuskerBoard. Most notably you were given a one-week suspension on 4/22/12 for baiting Husker fans in the thread discussing the arrest of Alfonzo Dennard, despite being warned not to. Today's suspension marks the third time you have run afoul of HuskerBoard rules, including a post in which you engaged in a personal attack on 3/23/12.

You have been counseled, by me (knapplc), several times in PMs to tone down your behavior. You were not given actual warnings despite this, so your actual warning record does not include the number of times you've been asked to tone it down.

Despite these friendly warnings, despite your previous suspension, you once again find yourself embroiled in an argument with Husker fans. You seem to be unwilling or unable to control yourself.

Your suspension will take you to the end of the regular season. That will afford the fans on HuskerBoard the rest of this football season to discuss their team without goading from you.

If you feel this is harsh, I can understand that sentiment. Bear in mind, however, that you could have been banned outright from the board for this latest incident.

Regards,

knapplc

zoogies alluded to this before, but since I didn't read the thread where EZ and Bucky got into it, but mostly based the decision on Bucky's continued nonsense in the Shed, it raises a question: Does EZ need a suspension for his part in that fracas? And if so, does that mean a ban, since he just returned from suspension, and has his own history with infractions?

I would say EZ's been on pretty model behavior since he returned. A few times he was baited into a response but he stayed out of it that I can recall. I think his responses to Bucky in that thread are an example.

Agreed. I was concerned EZ-E would come back guns blazing, but he's been pretty good so far. And since Alex gave him the 14-day suspension to try and get him right with Jesus, I say let him be for now.

Not sure everyone is getting these emails. Bucky responded:

Knapp,

First off, thank you for taking the time to respond, now to the issues:

Those incidents were over 18 months ago, no warnings, in-thread cautions or "counselings" were given to me yesterday or at any time directly preceding the incident in any form. A suspension without such warnings directly contradicts Huskerboard standards but that's just my perspective and I suppose it has absolutely no validity whatsoever with you. If I recall correctly we have not exchanged private messages for at least the last ten months and if we did it was in no way "counseling" but alas I cannot even access my PM's with the suspension in place.

A two month suspension is unreasonably punitive and I believe it to be personal as almost every corrective action taken against me on Huskerboard has come from you and judging by the fact that you sent this email, I have to assume this latest suspension is included in that record. Given that history it would only make sense to involve another Moderator in this decision but from looking at the time at which the suspension was imposed I highly doubt that you sought input.

As far as my behavior and your assertion that I am unable or unwilling to control myself I don't know what to say, that's pretty insulting on several levels. You can cite two incidents in as many years of membership as being serious enough to warrant suspension both of which originated in Husker Football. If I were as deranged as I think you believe I'd have been banned long ago. That said, I agree that there are probably issues with me posting in that particular sub-forum and I propose that a more reasonable solution would have been a cool-off suspension of one/two weeks with the moderator-review restriction implemented on my ability to post to that sub-forum.

To reiterate, two months is an obscenely long time for taking a thread off-topic after it had already been butchered, especially considering that no suspension was given to the other party involved and my roughly 18 months with a clean nose. I didn't attack a staff member, I didn't attack another poster (Po and I worked out the spat in the Woodshed) and I didn't spam the board with lewd pictures or anything so objectionable. It began as a reasonable sidebar that I'll admit devolved into something worthy of moderator action but not to this extent and not this one-sided.

I'm more than capable of participating in the community and bringing valuable contributions to the table as the vast majority of my past posts have shown. Let's be reasonable about this, shorten the suspension to a month and establish the restrictions I mentioned and I'll come back in November and never speak another word about it. That's not a threat if you choose not to, I just think that's more reasonable. I apologize for the incident, I realize I broke the rules and I'm willing to serve a time-out but tone down the vindictiveness. I just want to return and post without problems.

v/r,

- Not "Mr. Owen" but thank you just the same I suppose....I'll choose to take that as an offering of misplaced respect.

PS: Might want to tell BRI to fix his email or remove it from the routing. I got a lot of automated bounce-back about his address.
Looking at Bucky's Warning history, he's right - I have been the only mod to give him warnings. I supposed I could see how he feels like there's some kind of personal vendetta that being the case. That isn't remotely true, but in the interest of impartiality, if someone else would like to respond to his latest email, that would probably be best.

I say let it go. You explained why. And the one thing of note is the member (can't remember who) that noted that if Husker fan went to a Badgers site and posted what Bucky posted here, they'd be banned.
