Colorful Language

I know this is petty, but what about strong language on the board? We have a language filter in place and folks work their way around it by using spaces dashes and whatnot s h i t - m o t h e r f u c k e r - c o c k s u c k e r - d.o.n.k.e.y.r.a.p.i.n.g.s.h.i.t.e.a.t.e.r - c-u-n-t l-i-c-k-e-r and so on. And sometimes they don't try, they just type it and our filter bleeps out letters, like this sh#t f#*k c**t...

I'm kind of thinking we need to add a rule in the general rules about that. Not that we'd really enforce it to hard, but if anyone's going over board with every post filled with colorful language, it would be a good idea to have a rule to refer them to.

Thoughts?

You could something in the rules, but don't spend anytime on trying to monitor it.

Everytime something is typed (as above) just copy and paste it to the pinned thread I have above and one of the admins will just add it to the list. I honestly don't mind the language. Members need to be able to vent...lets let them.

I agree with Eric *shudder*. This is, predominately, a male board, and most of the members want to be able to use profanity. So far, with a few exceptions, no one has taken it over the line. I hate to come off like "Big Brother" - I'd prefer we address it if it becomes more of a problem.

Yeah, I wasn't planning on enforcing it, rather, using it against posters I don't like. Like another nail in the coffin when they're getting close to crossing the line..
