Delete account

Eric the Red

Team HuskerBoard
I had someone ask me this a few weeks ago...I forgot and he came back after a month or so

"For christ sack ...erase my account

I would like you to delete my account and my information.
I no longer want to be a part of this website in the manner for which I have been.

Thank you for everything, this is not personal. I want to get back to being a fan for the sack of being a fan.

Go Big Red!

My response is we never "delete" accounts. If a member has made a post their account has to be in the database otherwise it could cause data integrity issues. <- probably not but I would rather not get into the habit of deleting stuff from the board, I mean, we don't even delete posts, we move them.. We need a record of how he signed up, IP addresses / email addresses, to link back troll like activity and such. (see below...)

AND there's nothing that says we have to delete member accounts at their request, they accepted the terms and conditions when signing up. If he was offended by someone or whatever, tough titty... We can add him to the do not contact list, or ban list if he would rather (closer to banning, see below...).

Now to the real issue with that member, he has double identities.. wonder if we should remind him of the rules before banning? He originally signed up as thiems and just signed up as OnTheEdge to reinforce his own view points, see this post. Thoughts???

I'd just ban both accounts - if he then asks, we tell him. We certainly don't owe him anything in terms of an explanation.
