FLU - multiple accounts

FLU is a problem child. This guy earned a suspension a while back for instigating in a bunch of threads, getting a PM from me telling him to chill out, then going off his rocker and pissing a bunch of threads.

His suspension ended a while ago, but he didn't start posting again until recently - when he immediately got back to his old tricks, trying to get people riled up in the Tyler Moore thread - the original one that got locked. I PMed him to calm down but he ignored it, so he got another suspension.

The morning he got his suspension, minutes after FLU logged on to find out his account was suspended (I was watching), two accounts were created: Kid Nickels and tommie15frazier. All three: FLU, Kid Nickels and tommie15frazier, post from 207.29.222.247, which I've been unable to resolve (didn't try very hard - NIC was down and I used one other source).

Kid Nickels started posting first, and (shockingly) posted in the Tyler Moore thread. What's telling about that account is that, before his first post, he had an avatar loaded. This new avatar system gives lots of folks fits, so many that many new people from the last year don't have avatars. This guy had an avatar before he ever posted anything - not a smoking gun, but noteworthy.

I sent Kid Nickels a PM reminding him that creating multiple accounts to circumvent a suspension is forbidden. He read it, but never responded. Again, I find that highly suspicious, and I flagged the account as a spammer. I figured that if he was a legit account he would email someone asking what was up, but to date (a few days later), we've received no email that I'm aware of.

Enter tommie15frazier. He started posting today, and since I was already suspicious of him, I checked his IP. Bingo - same as FLU and Kid Nickels.

So.... we all know I'm paranoid and I check the hell out of everything. We all know I jump to conclusions sometimes, and it's not always (but almost always) the correct one. :D So I'm asking you guys - what do we do here?

FLU, originally, was a pain in the a$$. When he started posting again recently one of the first responses to one of his posts was, essentially, "Great. You're back again," from one of the other members (not me).

I suspended him for instigating, again, and he pretty much appears to have created not one but two new accounts to circumvent the suspension. This is supposed to earn a ban.

Do we ban him?

I suppose it is somewhat possible that the two newer accounts are from the same house, and not the same person. Given the timing it is a bit unlikely....

When did his suspension end? Those two accounts were made on 14 Aug 2012. Was it a 1 or 2-day suspension?

I think an identical email sent to all three with a stern last-chance warning: pick one account name, and stick with it. Let him know that the accounts will be merged under his chosen username. He will retain his warning history this way, as well as his prior post count. If he doesn't comply, then he clearly isn't interested in following some pretty simple rules and will have to be gone. I've never recalled him being a pain in the a$$ or not, but I think his response to something like that ought to be indicative of his intentions.

Man, good catch on the identical IPs.

If he keeps posting under those accounts by the way and you are not around, I will suspend those two accounts and let him know myself.

The records show that FLU has used 23 different IP addresses when posting. They range all over the place, which makes me wonder if he's posting through TOR or some kind of onion routing.

Let's give Alex's idea a try, and if no response or some crap response, we'll nail all accounts and IPs.

I sent this email to all three addresses today:

Greetings,
The three accounts associated with the three email addresses above have been identified as originating from the same source. HuskerBoard has a standing policy against multiple accounts. Please identify which account you would like to leave as the primary account. All other accounts originating from this source will be merged into that account.

Note that all discipline associated with these accounts will remain.

Any questions, please feel free to contact us at mods@huskerboard.com

Regards,

The HuskerBoard Mod Team

We'll see what the response is.

I'm reasonably certain this counts as an admission that all three accounts are his:

FLU is my primary account. Could you please end my suspension before the season starts?

A quick google reveals this article about Mr. Fluharty:

Talked with Coach Papuchis (via email) and he assured me that they are still heavily pursuing this kid. I teach at his HS, and although he verbally committed to LSU, he is a very SOFT commit. He ran a 4.39 at LSU's camp last summer (after his sophomore season) and wowed at other camps (one of LSU's coaches called him the best athlete he's ever seen); however he was injured for much of his junior season and didn't play much. Also our school runs the Wing-T so this affects his stats. He also has received an offer from Arkansas over the past couple of weeks. After this summer's camps and his play in the fall, his stock will surely rise. Definitely will be a 4-star after the fall. Will play DB or rover in college.

Now that I can put a face to the name, I think we should be lenient. He's a school teacher, a bit acerbic, but not a terrible person. Not necessarily the best at following rules... but....

End the suspension, combine the accounts, and encourage him to be a good Husker Fan from now on? Thoughts?
