Team HuskerBoard
Didnt want to copy everyone via PM b/c its a pain, but wanted to share this exchange with FF.

Chad,
I already sent a message to ARHusker, but if there is a problem with the board and this influx of new "members" I would like to offer to help in any way possible. I know that I may not be the most well liked guy in these parts, but I do respect and care about the board, and would do whatever I could to help out.

Kevin
Kevin,

I appreciate the note. No matter how unpopular your opinion may be around here, I have good instincts and can tell that you are a decent person, and recognize the respect you maintain for the board.

Yes it has been a very difficult period, but we will overcome it and continue to thrive, despite the hard work of quite a few very pathetic people. Thanks for the continued support, and I'll let you know if we can use your assistance.

BTW, what area do you think you could contribute to the situation, & whats your background? -- computers, law, forum admin etc.

Thanks,

Chad

Chad,

My only background in law was a Business Law class I took about 12 years ago, but I have an AA in Networking, and my BS is in computer science. My "hands on" experience in the real world would be limited to plinking around with my own PCs, rebuilding them, networking my house, etc, so I do have some computing skills.

If needed, I would be more than happy to help you guys with moving unwanted threads to the Woodshed/offending posts, locking bad threads, or just being a watchdog and bringing this stuff to your attention.

I think that these guys are pretty "bush league" and I dont appreciate what they are trying to do.

Let me know if you can use my help,

Kevin
Kevin,

Thanks for the info. Im sure you could be a big asset to the board as a mod - unfortunately Im not sure making someone named "formerfan" a mod would be the best idea. :) While youve been respectful of the board rules and never really violated any (other than an occasional "derail"), the fact is that there would probably be an uprising, simply b/c many people just cant accept the fact that there are people out there with opposite viewpoints - and that its actually okay, and healthy for debate. Im sure you understand. And as mods we have to often hold our tongues, which is just the nature of the biz. There are many times when I dont express how I truly feel b/c as mods we have to be very diplomatic. And I wouldnt want to ask you to change your style.

So for now I suppose the best way for you to help would be to simply report suspect sh#t to myself or any mod - we really appreciate all the help we can get. BTW, did you happen to recently register a new acct with the name "CoachKevin"? Just curious.

Thanks again.

Chad

Yeah, when he PMed me, I thanked him as well, and basically told him that the best thing to do would be to not get drawn in to any of their sh#t. It would just keep the threads alive. He asked about notifying "regular" members of the problem and so I went into a little detail about the issue - and told him that I was telling him because I thought he was trustworty, but there was no way to notify everyone without the risk of tipping our hand.

If he has registered a new account, perhaps it might be possible for him to be a mod under that account? Who knows - have to see things from the "other side" might be good for him.

As I was reading some of the threads about the Mizzou game I noticed more then a few times where it seemed like former was just posting crap to get some people's goats. Would this stuff be considered trolling? I know he does this all the time but it just looked like there was extra today. Maybe I just don't like him and the whole Mizzou game outcome got to me. What are your guys views? It seems him and Blackshirtguru may end up going back and forth like former and Nameless used to.

I think he trolls most of the time. He doesn't understand that the english language allows you do say what you mean without being a d******d. Or he understands, but doesn't care. Honestly, it must suck to be him.

I dunno if I'd call it "trolling" per se...the guy has so much hatred for Callahan that he practically becomes orgasmic when the team "fails" and he has a chance to revel in it.

I think he is a board perve. Likes to jack people up. He has been like that since I joined the board and it took me a while to ignore most of his drivel. He does bring a lot of activity to the board though.

As much as some hate him, he's a popular guy on this board. He gets attention. I almost want to say, as we have been doing, give him quite a bit of slack.

Yup,

Most of his posts other than the pissing contests he and Nameless get into are good banter albeit mostly -Callahan, Peterson, and other coaches. He definitely gets a lot of other people fired up and he is willing to take it to the woodshed as appropriate. We just have to monitor that other people watch their board demeanor so as not to freak out and have a x rated luv fest with him. :cheers

Guys, perhaps I'm imagining things, but it appears that more than the normal "formerfan bashing" is going on.

It also seems to me that former has demonstrated admirable restraint in his replies - actually, I personally probably would have jumped a bit harder on a few of them if they were directed at me.

Is it time for us to admonish the board to quite attacking former? We're doing it piecemeal right now - perhaps a note from Chad?

Yes, even though he irked the crap out of me at times I think too many shots are going his way. It seems like there is a large group of positive thinkers who tend to post emotionally when FF or B post their opinions.

The snipping at Benard I can understand - he not only never has anything positive to say, he refuses to debate and his posts are pretty moronic. At least formerfan provides a rationale.
