First and foremost, Gabbert’s father and Blaine are great to talk with and are always very willing to talk to us and the media. They received the diagnosis from an orthopedic shoulder specialist on Gabbert’s injury today that he sustained last week after being hit by a defensive end and it’s looking good for the five-star quarterback to make a speedy recovery and be back soon. Luckily for Gabbert, he found out that the injury was just a grade one shoulder separation and not expected to miss much time according to his father.

“He is out somewhere between two and three weeks for now," Gabbert’s father said. "Medically though, the nice thing I guess is, he’s going to make a 100 percent recovery. Once the pain and swelling subsides, he’ll be aggressively rehabbing and trying to get back out there.”

Gabbert’s father said that his son was disappointed not to be able to play in their game against Parkway North this Friday which will be televised on ESPNU. However, he also told him to be excited about what’s next as well.

“Blaine, he’s really been upset about that because what a thrill that would be for any kid,” Gabbert’s father said about Friday night’s game. “I told him though just wait until you get to Nebraska.”

The 6-foot-4, 226-pounder says that even though he’s disappointed in not being able to play tomorrow night, he’s going to be there to support his teammates and is excited about the big rivalry game.

“It will be fun even though I’m not going to be able to play,” Gabbert said. “I’ll still have fun with it and have a good time. All the ESPN guys are already at our schools. They’re expecting a huge crowd and it will be a great atmosphere.”

Gabbert also said that he will be watching the Nebraska-Missouri game on television Saturday night. His brother, Tyler Gabbert, is expected to play in Blaine's place on Friday night.
