I just talked to the owner of the Birds Nest. He told me they are having a meeting tomorrow to discuss keeping or dumping the games. Since the Kirkwood moved in the neighborhood they have been losing business. He told me that he would love to keep the games as long as the bar breaks even.

The Kirkwood is fine, it's just freaking impossible to get a drink there. Lotties is the same (and a Kansas Bar). I feel like at both of those places I am not watching the game because of all the nonsense happening all over the place. Birds Nest has two bars and good bartenders and servers. Nice location on Southprt and Altgeld.

Get in touch with these guys if you want the games there!

If it is a choice between Kirkwood's or Bird's Nest, then I'd definitely choose Kirkwood's. Bird's Nest is pretty inconveniently located for people who use mass transit. I haven't noticed that Kirkwood's is any better or worse than anywhere else, but at least it is close to the train. Even with the Wellington stop closed right now, Kirkwood's is still just a few blocks from the Belmont stop, which is served by both red and brown line trains.

If this is a matter of mass transit I have to disagree with the convenience argument. With the Wellington stop closed, Kirkwood's is three blocks from Belmont. Whereas, the Bird's Nest is five blocks from the Fullerton stop.
