Just a heads up from a long time "lurker" so this is my first post. I just wanted to share a little valuable information for anyone who may be going to OKC for the Big 12 Tourney (how could you not be).
I met my Brother-in-Law there last night to watch the Mavs play the Thunder and we found a great hotel about 5 minutes from the Ford Center. The downtown hotels were charging between $150 and $200 per night and this was with basically nothing else going on. I'm sure they'll be even higher during the Big 12. This place is a Best Western and not the type hotel I usually stay at but it is the nicest Best Western I've ever been to. It's called the Best Western Saddleback Inn and Conference Center. We only paid $99 and the room was as nice as anything I've stayed in. The rooms are brand new. The desk agent told me they just gutted them and completely rebuilt them last summer. They have free internet, free parking, electronic laptop safes, a little business area in the room and the beds are incredible. They also have a huge new fitness center that I made good use of and a great hot breakfast in their restaurant was included in my rate.
My wife and I have already booked there for the Big 12 Tourny and the rate is still just $109 a night for that event. You have to call the hotel directly though to get that rate and tell them you're here for the Big 12 Event. They have a toll free number at 800-228-3903. We'll be 5 minutes straight up Reno from the Men's and Women's venues and there's about 50+ nice restaurants near the hotel including a pretty darn good one inside it.
Just thought I'd share the little "diamond in the rough" that we found with any others who don't want to pay $200 bills a night, plus parking, plus pay for internet.
