My meeting with Bob Stoops.... Reply

So I thought you guys would get a kick out of this.....I sure did. So my father works for an insurance company that is based out of Lincoln....or used to be. They recently merged with another insurance company out of Cinci. He has been their leading producer for almost the last 25 years straight and just got inducted into their hall of fame. Anyways, they had their annual conference for all the top leaders and sellers in the company and he invited me to go this year. It was held at the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs. This place was amazing I must say.
Anyways, I was sitting at the bar Tuesday and overheard the bartender say something about the Big 12 coaches. So I ask him what he was talking about and he says that the Big 12 is having their annual meetings there for the next couple of days. So I starting thinking and thought it made sense because the day before I swore to my brother that I just passed Mark Mangino in the pro shop. So he tells me all the football coaches are there and I ask him if Cally is there....he looks on his computer and looks up his room and says yes.....I did tell him not to tell me which wing or room he was in though.
So I get up to leave and as im walking out Stoops is walking in...I open the door for him, say hi and that was about it. Later that night I went back in and sit down next to his table which has him, Mangino, Leach, Chizik and pinkil sitting there. It was a pretty cool deal really to see all those guys close up like that. I walk baclk out and run into Pederson and see all the other football coaches minus Cally and Mack Brown who I didnt see the rest of the trip.
So that night I go the piano bar that have at the resort. It honestly holds up to like 50 people....super small bar. I am sitting there and in walks Stoops, Leach and a couple b-ball coaches in the Big 12. So after about 45 minutes of pounding a couple more beers and getting the courage I go to the piano player and ask if he knows the NU fight song. He says he does so I give him $5 and tell him to play it and announce it goes out to Stoops. So the guy tells me he cant call him out by name so he gets on the microphone and points at me and tells everyone..."This one goes out to all the Sooner people in the house", and goes on to play it. So half the bar is there for this insurance deal who is also the main sponser of the huskers...Ameritas. So half the place gets up and starts clapping and stoops looks over and just gives me a sh#t grin...it was honestly priceless.
