Mavric

As expected, he went through and put in stupid reports about nothing because he's upset about getting a suspension.

He put in nearly 40 reports about nothing, just trying to be a jerk.

I put a temporary ban on his IP address.

It finally dawned on me that perhaps I could shut off Guests ability to report content.  And we can.  So I did.

Which is probably better anyway.  Pretty much the only "Guests" that report anything are member under suspension/ban that are just acting like children.

Well done @Mavric. I started reviewing and clearing those reports, then I checked the IP and saw the warning and put 2 and 2 together. I'll keep clearing them out.

I think the guest reporting decision was a wise one, as well. There have been a few times in recent years where it seemed like someone was guest reporting just to troll.

This is tough.

I don't like banning people who have been contributing for a long time, but in the span of a few days he's been suspended, trolled moderators through the report function, and circumvented a ban. And our rules are pretty clear that circumventing a ban will lead to all accounts being banned.

If you want a clean answer I lean ban. But if you're feeling generous, I'd also be OK with giving him one last shot to ride out his suspension, and if he tries to circumvent it again he gets the boot. My short answer is yes - ban.

I think he probably deserves to be banned.

But I could also live with a One Last Chance PM and a zero tolerance policy.

Maybe I'm just in the Christmas spirit....

I don't know.  I can't decide what I think.

Exactly how I feel - deserves a ban, but I'm feeling somewhat generous lol.

Last chance PM and zero tolerance policy works. If he tries to F around again (particularly the suspension circumvention) it'll be a permaban.
