How do members know they've been given a warning?

I gave my test account a warning to see what it looked like on the member's end, and I can't tell that I have one. I don't see it in my profile, I didn't get a PM about it, and I didn't get an email about it (that I know of).

Maybe I'm not remembering the email I used for my test account. Frank, can you tell me which email I used for user name "Rocketsocks?"

NEVERMIND - I found it. It was my gmail account, and I checked and I've received no emails.

yeah you do...i just went into the warning center on knapp and saw where you could send a PM (and I bumped his warn level to near max. watch you step knapp!)

Huh. I thought it was automatic. I also thought the member could see their warning level just like we can see them. That would make sense.

It also makes sense that some of these guys may not have any idea they've been warned, or what for. Although one guy (forget his name) got ripped when I gave him a warning last season and went off about it in the forums, and I don't believe I sent him a PM.

Looks like I should check my email more often. Frank sent this response via email:

Email is knapplc@gmail.com. For what it's worth, I can see the warn status in your profile. However, I don't think the system is set up to display it for anyone other than Mods or Admins. I don't see anything obvious in the Control Panel to display that information, but I haven't been able to dig into it - the flooding here over the last three days has killed my Internet most of that time and it's still flakey.
You have to manually inform the member - meaning, when you increase the warning, on that page, scroll down and look for the section entitled "Contact Member". You select either PM or Email, then type the message they should get.

I wonder how many members don't even know they have warnings. Could be a lot.
