How to get rid of the *NEW* list at the top of page

It's growing every day.  As of this evening (the 18th) it's got 13 red bars across the top of the page.  I can't find a setting to get rid of them.  I've tried clicking them to read them, but they stay and the list keeps growing.  It migrates to each page I go to in the forums;  it never goes away.

I admit it's a bit much right now.  We usually set them to go for a week.  It just happens that we've had a huge number of commits in the past week.

I'll have to go back and look through them to see what the dates are.  But they should start dropping off soon.
