HQW-10: KU Review / KSU Preview

KU Review

OK game against Kansas…right about what I said would happen. Where were these short passes last week? I don’t understand it sometimes. There has got to be something else behind this play calling. Score should have been 31-10, but both teams decided to fumble on the goal line. D. Will and Bullocks are coming up big.

*Bullock’s had his ninth pick and

*Williams had 12 tackles, 4 for a loss (-12) and 2 sacks

I’m sure everyone is going to jump on the Ross bandwagon and I guess you might as well. Only the second back to cross the century mark this year (pathetic). There was one play where the announcer said it appeared Kansas thought the play was stopped or over because the defenders slowed down. But when I watched the replay from the end zone view I think the defenders couldn’t find him. Lost track of him. He brings an interesting element to the table. He went North and South. Has he been given a fair shot this year? Probably not. I think Ross’s style and ability to get yards was due to the fact that they had a FB out in front of him blocking. (I’m not sure Davies has gotten any better since his sophomore year) He’ll see more time. Cotton is going to try his best to establish the run. He always does. He softened KU up a little. Jammal has to complete the long ball and not under-throw the receivers this week.. Also we need to throw over the middle to Pilkington (about 210 pounds). Why throw to Fluellen (175lbs soaking wet)????

KSU Preview

Enough of that. Let’s turn our attention to the most important game of the year. Big XII North title up for grabs, a chance at Oklahoma (NU has a shot at hanging with them, unlike KSt.) and most importantly getting a win over our most hated, most disgusting, cum-scented, douchbag, puke-faced prick of a conference opponent Kansas St. Barnies.

I already see our friend has made a few posts and is shooting his mouth off in another forum: http://www.huskerboard.com/forums/index.ph...hp?showforum=10 :o

By the way KState Wildcat where’s all your friends? You all alone?? I know there aren’t many of you, but come on, I almost feel bad for you getting ruined like youre about to. You pasted a few of my comments in your jerkoff post and it was stupid as usual. I have said all year that Nebraska will beat KSt. And obviously I stand by it, but I never once said that Nebraska is better than KSt. I am a rabid Husker fan. I know their roster top to bottom, three deep on the depth chart, haven’t missed a game in years, I have flown to games, I have driven up to 20 hours to see them play, I live and die with the team, I already have a huge Husker room and I will stay this way for the rest of my life. But there is one thing I will never do or be and that is unrealistic. I know Roberson and Sproles are more athletic than anybody in the Nebraska lineup. Kansas St. overall is probably a better team. (I would mention scoring totals, but they have a habit of leaving their starters in for the whole game against James Madison and rack up 55 points and 600 yards.) I am not afraid to admit that at all. In fact, it will make it all that much sweeter when the Big Red rack up the “W.” :D

Take a look at how the numbers stack up.

NU has something special in Lincoln and this week will be no different. Home field advantage, which has been HUGE in the Big 12. The Big Red Machine has always held this special advantage. Last few times KSt. has gotten smoked. KST. thinks they have a “home field advantage”, but a couple dozen students dressed in their pretty purple shirts behind the opponent’s bench shouting does not constitute an advantage. You guys are pathetic, fake and annoying and will forever be in our shadow. Nothing will change KState Wildcat. Especially this week. And when you and your dickwad fans come to the stadium keep your business to yourself. Stay in your little corner and be prepared to be humbled as our team rips off your friggin’ heads and sh#ts down your necks. Nothing else needs to be said about that; our crowd comes hard, comes loud and comes the whole game. Oh yeah KST. Speaking of moneyshots. One time I went down the little f'ing’ apple and I was able to bang two broads in one night. Gave her that pearl necklace she always wanted. I would describe her but I think you told me your sister was out that night. I’ve gotten it quite a bit down there. I’ve laid more pipe in that town than most plumbers. Man some ugly people down there.

Getting back to the point, we WILL win this game, undoubtedly. I have total confidence. And after that all of your fans can crawl back under that rock called Craphattan you reared your rat heads from.

More to come, everyday this week…out

To be effective Saturday we need to follow a simple formula:

-Play defense on the sideline: Our O Line needs to get themselves a "Place at the table", and finally dominate the point of attack, manipulate the clock, and leave KState fans with their standard we just got ramrodded O face.

The following phrase may be overheard throughout the purple blanket of puke or whatever the sh#t their weak attempt at our Sea of Red is. "O sh#t Polly the Powercat, we are getting wrecked out there, but curiously enough this fist in my a$$ feels quite nice. A little to the left please. There you go, wow #36 really was better than #35, just like KU said."

-Win the coaching battle: Plain and simple, our so-called brain-trust that we have invested so heavily in, and are ready to turn the keys to Father Oz's Lincoln over to, need to earn their checks. We have been outcoached the past 3 years in Womanhattan, and they need to do more than dial in a canned offensive piece of sh#t scheme like they did in TX. I have a feeling this game is going to come down to a play similar to OU in 2000. But do we have that playmaker to make it happen?

-J Lord can NOT f#*k up. But we also cant afford to have him ONLY NOT f#*k up either, like he did in Austin. He has to make at least 3 big plays for us to get the pussies on their heels, and keep us in multiple dimensions. For this to happen he HAS to take risks. Period. Whether we like it or not. Big reward plays have a high risk factor, especially at the QB spot, especially at Nebraska. If anything, OVERthrow the receivers Jammal, but dont flippin turn it over, and dont throw gad dum leather lawn darts either.

Do those things and get a Big Red shiny new W.

It really is time for NU to put up or shut up. In games like this the small things are certainly going to matter. For NU its got to be lining up correctly. They run the option and lots of draws. You have got to be in the correct position. Of course on a much larger scale tackling has got to be there. One on one tackles are a must. Sproles or Roberson can bust one on anyone. Not highlight hits, just the tackles. Be ball hungry on defense. First man on the ball carrier and second on the ball. We'll need all the turnovers we can muster.

You can flop back and forth over stats all you want though. There is one thing that simply can't be overlooked. And that's Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, NE. You keep thinking that eventually KST is going to post a victory in Lincoln. The more you think about it, your stomach gets itchy almost. "No it can't happen this time," or "Let it happen 10 years from now." I just can't wait for this game.

I have read several stories about how Solich is on the hot seat. And even if NU beats KST he really needs to win the Big 12 Champ just to keep his job. People have made note of several things that have been brought up. If this were to occur possibilites are wide, but I have heard this. Current Pittsburgh head coach, Stoops' brother at Oklahoma, Gill and even Pelini would get the nod. Also noted, which has certainly led to some the rumors is the fact that Solich was nowhere to be found during the announcement of the monumental facility upgrades. Or all of this can be considered pure speculation, but it sure makes you think.

I will be the first to say that KST is more talented than NU. I think that's obvious. Their defense is riding high. They haven't let up an offensive touchdown on defense in 12 Quarters. They have weapons that score quickly. We don't. Our offense is all about ball control and trying their best not to make a mistake.

It is going to be a great game. But there is just one thing that I can't look past and that is Tom Osborne Field in Memorial Stadium, Lincoln, NE. It's senior day, last time for D. Will, Davis and Co. I can't see them letting us down. I already hear a crowd cheering and chanting from miles away.

Here it goes...... Nebraska by a touchdown....NU 24 KST 17 ;)

Great quote abou the fans of Memorial Stadium from a KST site

Few can offer advice for the Wildcats, considering the Huskers stand 101-5 at home over the last 16 seasons. If anyone has a clue it is Texas coach Mack Brown, who is 2-0 with the Longhorns in Lincoln. In 1998, Brown's first team at UT snapped a 47-game home winning streak for NU.

"You don't have to discuss it with your team," Brown said. "Nebraska's won more home games than anybody and your players are aware of that. It's their great fan support and they play with such great confidence at home. They get on that turf and they have so much speed. They've got a chance to beat anybody at home."

Texas went there again last season and handed Nebraska a 27-24 defeat, but Brown acknowledged the difficulties with winning there more than he did his trade secrets.

"You can't hear. It's a closed-in stadium and it's been sold out forever, since they first had college football, I think," Brown said. "They expect to win there, and when you take 18- or 22-year-olds and they feel that confident about something, it makes it more difficult."

Several players on K-State's veteran roster have played there already and can attest to the noise level.

"I remember standing up there on the sideline with Justin Montgomery, no further away than me and you, and I couldn't hear a word he was saying," senior defensive end Thomas Houchin said. "I thought, 'This is ridiculous.' They like their football up there, that's for sure."

Man I am so jacked up after reading that article!!!!!! Thats one thing I love comparing when going to other stadiums, including the NFL. The litmus test I use is if the person next to me can hear me screaming obsceneties at them when its rockin. NOt a chance in hell in Lincoln. Ive told more people I banged their moms and they just high fived me and smiled. Hell maybe they did too. Arrowhead wasnt far from the same at the Denver game, but only during Dante's return. Texas is pretty weak b/c of the open stadium. Columbia isnt bad but again a high school stadium. Ames is actually fairly loud for the number and the stadium design. but they havent been sober since basketball season. Boulder is pretty loud too, but not as loud as Lincoln b/c there are a lot fewer. NOt sure about Norman, but I imagine weve got them too.

So how about we even blow the minds of the players who THINK they know how loud Memorial can be?!?!!!!! For everyone going to the game, jack that f'ing place UPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!! Get it rockin, and keep it that way. And not just on 3rd and 1 on our 10 yard line! If you can talk verbally after the game about the game, you suck. Only high fives chest bumps and head buts are permissible until you get to the post victory spot, and even then you only need half a vocal chord to order a Red beer and wings. Ya hear?!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So turn it upanother couple f'ing db's and show Kstate and all those recruits what home field advantage and the Husker Nation are ALL ABOUT!!!!!

GBR!!

eric the "red", I happen to be a KSU grad in the heart of Little Red county, Omaha, NE. I have lived here for about 2 years. I could not help but laugh when you talk about your fans. I was in Omaha last year when the huskers were struggling and losing nearly every impressive streak they had developed over the years of dominance. How quickly NE fans turned on the Red after only a couple losses. Through daily conversations, I heard loyal fans cursing the players, coaching, administration, and the entire NCAA system. As a general college football fan, I have always had a great respect for Nebraska football. It was dissapointing and shocking to see the fair weather completely shun their team that had just recently gave them a run at another National Title. Even this year, Omaha sportscasters have said publicly j. lord should play basketball because the bounce pass would be more effective on the hardwood. KSU fans really don't have to talk sh#t when your own sportscasters are saying everything. Your fan base is loud, loyal, and willing to go anywhere to watch their team. That is what can drive your team to win in any environment. But when the team is accustomed to having a fan base, and that tradition turns against them, it just adds fuel to already blazing downward spiral. It effects your players, coaches, and recruiting. It is a cancer that will eat away a program... I believe KSU has the better team this year and in normal circumstances, should beat the huskers this year. I also realize this is college football and anything can and does happen. If KSU can pull it off this weekend, another impressive streak will fall (not losing to KSU at home since '68). I will be in the stands, eager to hear how the red claddin fans react. I think it will be a hell of a game to decide which team will get the "oppurtunity?" to face OU.
