Brett, I wanted to address the issues you raised in your email.

When you signed up you were presented with a screen that set out the board rules, and when you click the Agree button, you contractually agreed to abide by the rules. The link to the rules are found near the top of the board, and in many of the Mods’ and Admins’ signatures. In other words, the lack of an email is irrelevant to the issue. In your first violation, you attacked a Moderator, DaveH. Another Moderator, HSKRNOKC, locked the thread and specifically stated he did so because of name calling. In response, you stated, “And if they boot me off this oh well i can create another e-mail and so for.”

Actually, the term you used was jacka$$. And regardless whether you think it’s offensive, it violates the board’s rule – rules to which you agreed to abide. As for the icon, as I posted in response to another member after your temporary suspension, it seems that flame wars arise far more quickly at the use of words rather than icons. The intent of the rules is to stop flame wars before they begin. Over the years, we’ve found that the icon does not cause us nearly the problems that words do. If it does begin to do so, we’ll remove it.

Two points need to be made here. First, we ask that members attack the post, not the poster. To attack the post, it is inherent that one dispute the facts asserted by the first poster. It is hardly uncommon for posters to say to someone with whom they disagree to “get their facts straight” and then to post counter-facts. That’s attacking the post, and not the poster. Could they do the same thing without the phrase “get your facts straight”? Yes – but that’s hardly a personal attack so much as it is a challenge to any facts alleged.
Second, in your first violation, you attacked a Moderator, DaveH. In response to a member warning you of what you had done, you stated, “And if they boot me off this oh well i can create another e-mail and so for.” In your email to me in response to my email informing you of your temporary suspension, you stated, “So temporary ban me.....I don't care.....some people on that board will make anybody look like a dumbass and they have to be pricks about certain subjects.”
Almost from the moment you’ve joined, you’ve engaged in personal attacks. On a number of occasions, we let them slide. When we finally enforced the rules, you essentially stated that you would break the rules again by creating a second account - which is expressly forbidden by the rules – and that you didn’t care what actions were taken. That clearly implies that you either cannot or will not follow the rules.
Given all of those facts, I find it hard to believe that you’ve “learned your lesson”. However, even if I did believe that, I would not lift the suspension. The reason is that doing so would essentially permit members to violate the rules without any penalty – which in turn would have the effect of rendering the rules moot. Any poster could violate the rules, say they have learned their lesson or apologize, and have their posting history cleared – and we use that history to determine whether a permanent ban or other punishment is warranted.
When your suspension is over – and assuming you decide to post again to the Board – you’ll be welcomed back. All we ask is that you read and follow the rules.
