Need some advice here. What do we do with a guy who has years worth of warnings, but keeps on screwing around? I like this guy, he's pretty popular here, but when do we put our foot down? Here's his warn history:

Over the weekend he repeatedly posted a comment in the Football Forum about how he'd like to have some girls "sit on my face." LINK I have PM'd him and asked him not to post things like that in the regular forum, telling him this belongs in the Shed, and he responds by saying he doesn't see anything wrong with it, and he can't figure out why I'm PMing him about it.

What do you do with this?

Just to add some more information, I received the following PM from him:

Hey AR Husker,
I have a question for you. Yesterday I had posted an answer to another members question about the two girls that I saw hanging out with Jamal Turner in the Jamal Turner ankle thread from my iPhone 4 which read "They were gorgeous.......I would let them sit on my face." I checked out the thread later on my iPhone 4 and saw that my post was gone and figured that my phone was acting up. So once I got home a few hours (I live in South Sioux City, NE) later I reposted that same comment using my laptop. Check it a few minutes later and the comment was gone so I figured somebody had deleted it.

Come to find out Knapplc had deleted my whole post and sent me an email to not post a comment like that. I was really confused because I didn't use any language or any sexual content. So I started thinking, was that comment considered sexual content which I thought sexual content was only posting pictures/videos and/or sexual webpage links especially posting those on the main forums. I honeslty didn't think I was posting something that was breaking board rules because I think I could've worded that a whole lot worse that what it was. If I was in the wrong with the Mods and Admins than I'll accept the punishment.

I know I've had some stupid mistakes in the past and was doing good until this mess right here. I just want to get away from all of the mistakes I've made in the past and try to be a good member whether thats providing recruiting info, starting a UFC Fantasy picks in the other sports forums, or whatever it may be. I don't think I've made anybody upset lately or have gotten into any heated arguments with any Huskerboard members, well may UGAhusker but I'm not the only one who has problems with him, Aspeedine4589 has been having problems with UGAhusker.

If you believe that that comment is considered Sexual Content than by all means I'm wrong and I will take full responsibility of my actions whether it means banning me for life. I didn't mean for that comment to offend anybody or any younger viewers, I was just trying to be funny with my comment even though my wife didn't find that comment to be funny at all.

I think I've been doing good lately keeping my nose clean while be a productive member in joining or starting conversations and helping out any member that I can. I've been productive with a lot of UFC fans on this board by starting a UFC Fantasy picks which they seem to love it. I'm just trying to follow the rules and moving on to get away from my mistakes in the past.

If you and the other Mod's and/or Admins do decide this is the last straw than it's been a good ride and I've enjoyed my stay here at Huskerboard. I will miss a lot of the UFC guys and the Husker talks with the gang.

The thing is, he's a good guy. He seems very reasonable, but he seems to also have trouble grasping what is or isn't appropriate for young viewers.

I mean, how can you think "I'd have her sit on my face" is not a sexual reference?

I like the guy and I'd like him to stay, but the question is, what do you do? Do you just let him keep going with this stuff?

I am at a loss.

I don't think he should be banned, for the record. But I don't know what to do.

 
He sent me the same PM??? At least he made the effort to make it right with us, but at the same time it feels like he was fishing for information now. I told him that I wasn't on the board when this happened and I hadn't heard any discussion in reference to this so he may be fine.

 
Why not just suspend him for a week or two? He seems to be a decent member so I don't think a permanent ban is necessary for a harmless (albeit inappropriate) comment.

 
Does being a member in good standing for long periods of time erase past warnings? I think it should, or at least, I think we can use that as a reason to ignore the past warnings and consider this as a final strike.

The goal is not really to have a punitive system after all; we want to keep our good members around. If the feeling is that he should not be banned, then I don't think he should be, for any length of time.

I think it should, too. To use jock as an example, his first couple of warnings are years old. I would like to see a policy where we don't erase warnings like this, but where we don't say "He has five warnings, he has to be banned." Leave old warnings there for reference, but don't hold them against a guy if he's been on good behavior for a while.

Jock is, overall, a good guy. He's not out there causing trouble, but he does have problems self-censoring at times. If that's his biggest sin, that shouldn't earn a ban.

The question then becomes, what makes a good member or a bad member? If you have a guy who causes problems over and over, does that make him good? We have to have something at our disposal that gets the point across.

 
I guess it's a judgment call...tough, but I don't see a less subjective way. This forum can be a good place to sort through the grey areas, like this one.

 
The good thing about the system the way it is now is it takes the decision making out of your hands so to speak and leaves no room to decipher or twist things to say, "okay we'll let it go this time, but next time that's it!" If we change the system I think it would increase our discussions on what to do in certain situations so things may not get resolved as quickly. I agree he's a decent member that does some stupid things though.

 
I think he is fone. I say just leave it alone, he is really scared he is going to be banned or suspended. I don't think he's going to do anything anymore
