So I shut a thread down that huskermike84 started, http://www.huskerboa...573-buh-bye-bo/ , obviously we had enough of these threads going and the way this one had been started wasn't necessary and wasn't going to get a good response from anyone let alone a mod or admin. So I shut it down and he sends me the following PM's:

Okay, I understand why you locked it. But the sarcastic message you posted on there was not necessary. If you are going to moderate then do so in a professional manner.

Also, I find it quite sad how new people to these boards are harassed. I was about to donate to this board, but thanks to your unprofessional manner I will be holding off writing that check until people here are treated more fairly.

I responded:

Sorry you feel that way, but my post was in no way unprofessional. If you feel it was you need to take that up with the admin's of the board. I've included them in my response to you as I feel it wasn't unprofessional in anyway. Your posting history shows you have an axe to grind with Pelini and have from the day you joined this board. Someone who immediately starts posting negative things from the beginning always stick out and nevermind we were advised about past history with you from another board by a current member. I'm not taking that into account in this situation, your posts are speaking for themselves. You want to add to the discussion fine, but if your intention is to come onto Huskerboard.com to flame and post nothing, but negative things that isn't going to work. I want you to remain a member here and if you choose to donate, great, thanks for the donation. New people are joining all the time so your statment about us harassing people just doesn't stick.
To create good discussion having 30 threads about the same thing just doesn't cut it. Having one thread discussing the same thing does. These are the things our admins want us to be mindful of when we moderate the board. Your opinion is your opinion.

Mistake on my part:

Actually the part about your posting history from another board is reference to another poster, not you so that's incorrect, apologize for that part, but the rest is still what it is.

He responds:

My views about Pelini should be of no concern to someone who moderates a message board. I am in no way trashing the players or the program of Nebraska. Just because I am upset with the unprofessionalism of the coach shouldn't even be an issue with my complaint. So it seems fair to say you have a grudge against people who have a grudge against Pelini. Also, you have been the ONLY mod to have a problem with me. So yes, please forward this to your boss/admin or who ever.

I respond back:

Again, I've done that, you talk about unprofessionalism that thread was unprofessional with the way you started it off. You weren't going to get a good response from anyone let alone a mod with the way you started that thread. I don't have a problem with you, but if you think it's personal so be it. I'm done discussing this with you and you can wait for an admin to answer. Thanks

He responds:

And I agreed that Thread shouldn't have been posted. I admitted my fault. My bad fella. But I do feel you need to be checked into on your moderating, since that comment you posted prior to locking that post seemed to be quite unnecessary. Thank you for your time. GBR

In the deadspin thread he puts this in that thread basically "poking the bear" so-to-speak:

This isn't the Marines. This is college football where a coach, especially a Nebraska coach is expected to have class and professionalism. Quit defending the guy who couldn't give two dookies about you! Tell me where there is a job that doesn't fire people for telling its customers (fans) to F off other than the moderators on this message board????

Now I admit I may have gotten him confused with tfree32 or whatever the hell his name is, but regardless he started a thread that wasn't necessary and that seems to be his main beef with me. He wanted me to tell all of you so I'm doing that. Opinions?

I wouldn't feel bad. People who say these things, I highly doubt they were really about to donate to the board. And I don't think anyone appreciates a fellow moderator being harangued like this.

Also, I find it quite sad how new people to these boards are harassed.

^This is something to watch for in general. It's a problem with any board, and if we want new members, we have to maintain a welcoming atmosphere.

On the flip side, the best new members to a community introduce themselves and are respectful. I don't know this poster well enough to comment on that.

Generally with these threads I'd lock it without comment because it feels like a stronger statement -- you know, self explanatory. And generally nothing needs to be said. But that's kinda up to you. Anyway, what does he want us to do, fine you? OK. You're bunking with knapplc tonight. Ah, sorry. That's a bit harsh.

Well, I'm fine with what you did, BRI. So if he asks, feel free to tell him it's been reviewed and your conduct approved. And if he knows he was wrong to start the thread, he should also realize that even if you were "unprofessional" he brought it on himself.

Zoogies is right about welcoming new members; and we need to keep that in mind during times like these, but at the same time, we also have to keep the board "clean", so that it appeals to as broad a spectrum as possible. Allowing the board to become a seething caldron of negativity will drive many potential new members away. There are plenty of other Huskers sites like that.

And NO ONE joins a free board and immediately donates. That line was a thinly veiled attempt to influence the admins. Ain't gonna work.

He's one of our seasonal bitchers and when I was having a discussion with Nobody last night he made several references to me being a Mod that had nothing to do with the conversation. His last one is in the Junkyard and earned him a break.

He's one of the guys complained about the most in the Woodshed and I doubt anyone would miss him if he didn't come back.
