I like Mike Riley's offensive strategy

He just needs the time to recruit his players and get everyone used to his system. In 4-5 years, I could easily see us winning 9-10 games consistently...just give it time.
9-10 wins gets a coach fired in these parts. 4 losses in the first 6 games doesn't apparently. But besides that. Riley's offense which is Langsdorf's is very suspect right now. Keep in mind our last two games we needed just 10 yards to seal the victory yet we couldn't convert.

I don't want Bo back, but winning 9-10 games consistently got him fired. Need to win at least a conference championship.

He wasn't hired to duplicate Bo's record. He wa hired to win championships.
I think we are saying the same thing.

Win 8-10 consistently, be set up for runs towards better with at most 2-3 "down cycle" gaps, and regularly parlay those opportunities into strong finishes -- Top 15, Top 10, CCG, something like that.

I could easily see us consistently finishing within the top 2 of the Big 10 West in 4-5 years. Riley needs time to recruit the right players for his system. Some years I could even see us winning the Big 10 Championship game and finishing the season ranked in the Top 10 overall. Be patient.

Given his career record, what would lead someone to believe that all of a sudden he's going to become a eight, nine, or ten win a season coach?

He had his recruits at OSU and didn't reach those levels on a consistent basis.

I thought maybe at a bigger school, more resources and all that, but after six games I can see why he's a .500 coach.
