New member kael4622 is almost certainly one of the banned - Roto or the like. If you Google the email (ethan.c.case@gmail.com), there are no hits at all. However, Google does have a number of hits on the Ethan Couch case. And who is Ethan Couch? Remember the thread about the white, rich kid that killed four people in a car accident (kid was DUI)? That's the one. Heck of a coincidence. Just something to keep an eye on.

We've had a number of these "phantom" registrations lately. With only a few exceptions (see the HLR thread), they don't even log on. Just register. Makes me wonder why Polo's crew is doing it.

 
It's ATB and Roto. They have a lot of energy for this stuff...and Marf is another one. Polo actually apologized to me for their actions, for what it's worth. AR is right, it's going to be whack a mole for a while. I guess it's nice that they are adding to our membership numbers so enthusiastically.

Funny about Polo. He's the guy that has logged in as BigScrapper. I banned the account while he was on-line last night. He came back today, I guess to see if he was actually banned. He used that account to view all the topics on the board - he wasn't posting or giving +1s. May have used it for the PM.

Who knows...

Do we have the capability to view PMs? fwiw, I think we should generally avoid reading PMs. They're private after all. But I could see monitoring PMs in certain situations. Like the PM's of Polo's sock account.

As for Polo, I suspect he's more interested in what is being said about his fledgling board than in recruiting members. Besides, I imagine a lot of HB regulars will join, even if they don't plan to post much. If for no other reason, just to make sure someone else doesn't open an account with your HB name and start posting a bunch of sh#t that could cause issues.

 
Yes, and even in this case there is no reason to read PMs. If it's a banned member we can either ban, or add to the restricted access list. Though, it seems in most cases there's little reason not to go straight to ban.

Let me throw this out there, does Lance know these things are taking place? Maybe reach out to him and tell him what members of the board he's an admin on. I'm pretty sure he wouldn't like this.

 
If he does know, I would also assume he wouldn't like it, though he can't do much about it. These kids are going to act like kids.

 
Yeah, I think if we reach out, it will cause more problems than it solves. These are kids - their primary goal is to try and get under our skin. If we reach out, we give them the attention they crave. Since they aren't really harming the board, I think we continue to ignore them and just ban their accounts.
