Landlord at it again

What to do about Landlord?

I just moved a ton of posts out of the "Bo Pelini's Quarterback Graveyard" thread. Starting with 1995 Redux's post in this chain of quotes, the conversation devolved into a bickerfest at TheSker:

Whoever is going to keep a close eye on YSU games can add to it.
So Im guessing this will become The Sker's domain.
Your perception (or guess) could not be further off base. There are posters who have linked YSU sites. I'm not one of them. For the five millionth time, it's not getting rid of Pelini that I care one bit about. The dude needed a Brinks truck to move to Ohio. My issue is with all the talk of the unfathomable resources that Nebraska has, a coach was hired who has not won a single title south of the Canadian border. Instead of the crowd that includes Urban Meyer, Jim Harbaugh and Gary Patterson.......we got Mike Riley.
So instead of giving him a chance the logical thing to do is give up before the spring game?
In case you're missing my point, here it is. I don't think Mike Riley's resume is worthy of the Nebraska job. However, the man responsible for his hiring did. I would have rather seen Gary Patterson offered, but Nebraska is not a job that can attract an elite candidate. So, we have Mike Riley.

If we aren't a job that can attract an elite candidate, then what kind of resumé are you expecting a candidate to have?

You sound like the frat dude who's a 6 and gets mad when all of the girls that are 9s and 10s aren't into you, and then turn around and complain about how you're overweight/ugly/socially awkward etc. to all your bros
It ended in what is in my opinion a personal attack - and TheSker took it as such, and said so in the comments I moved out of the thread.

Landlord has a long-established pattern of this behavior, with warnings for personal attacks going back to 2012. We had the Fat Toad incident in which he played a role in some girl's personal information getting posted here at HuskerBoard, or actually did it himself, I forget which.

He was suspended as recently as December of last year for posting a profanity-ridden video in the regular forums. That sentence was reduced from 30 days to time served after about two weeks after he swore he'd learned his lesson and he'd change.

The Bannining happened in January, and everyone was given the heads-up that the term "butthurt" is now frowned upon. Yet, on February 27th, Landlord uses the word in his Status Update:

I've been one to defend Mr. Landlord inasmuchas I don't think his behavior is intended to cause harm. I think he's narcissistic, and I think he's going through a pretty rough patch in life now, too. But that is not an excuse for this continued on-the-edge behavior. There are more examples of Landlord poking the bear, but this and his warning history are all I cared to dig up this early in the morning with only half my coffee consumed.

So, what to do? Suspend him? If so, how long?

I'm not as familiar with all the history but I noticed this the the other day. I just about moved it myself but then another poster a post or two later kind of backed up his use as an analogy and said it shouldn't be considered a personal attack so I thought I might be over-reacting a bit.

I guess I'm of the opinion that smaller transgressions just get moved with a PM warning in general. But I'm not sure how many times they get to cross the line before we need to do something more. And I'm not sure how much TheSker being the antagonist plays into this. He's basically turned in Polo negativity-wise but without being quite the pompous a$$. There are several that are pretty tired of his constantly inserting his negative comments everywhere - same thing over and over again.

As far as the butthurt comment goes, I don't have as much problem with that one. As I told JJHusker1 in our recent exchange, I don't think the word itself is quite so bad, I mainly have an issue with it being used to ridicule other posters. When it's directed outside, it's not to the same level, imo.

My thing with Landlord's "butthurt" use is that he knows it's part of what got the ball rolling on a lot of the bans recently - that's well documented.

The tricky thing is gauging intent. I don't always know how to read Landlord. He presents a sympathetic figure, but then he does these passive-aggressive things, or out-and-out crosses the line, and there's no question he knows where the line is.

I think everyone knows where I stand with him, so take what I'm saying with a grain of salt. It's a personal attack, I realize TheSker is being a jerk right now, but Landlord knows better as he's been given chance after chance after chance.

FWIW I agree. We're sometimes making a big deal out of something that's not a big deal. Like AR likes to say, think context. Words themselves do not mean a whole lot without context.

I hate bickerfests. I think Landlord does need to get reigned in sometimes.

That said, TheSker is basically a troll right now. And he's suckering people in.

This is where I'm at. Not really up in the range for a ban or suspension, IMO.

Yup, there are members with worse track records that have gotten by with a modicum of damage. That's my word for the day; modicum

Just to note: Junior just used "butthurt" (again) in a status update reply. It wasn't directed at anyone so I don't think it's that big of a deal but if we're going to blacklist that work, an announcement should be made.

The word's fine. It's not fine when it's used as a personal attack. The bans weren't for using the word - they were for using the word as a personal attack.
