This new member checks out as who they say they are - a woman from Lincoln. I've got a name, LinkedIn account, Pinterest account, various other stuff that links her email address to her...


But it's not normal for women to join a male-dominated message board and shout to everyone they're female. It's not normal for a new member to be so familiar with the Ignore button. It's not normal for a person to be so up-front with personal photos.

It all screams I REALLY AM WHO I SAY I AM. Either she isn't who she says she is, or she's just odd.

Did we have a former member, someone who was banned, maybe, with the last name Rooney? I'm wondering if this isn't someone's mom and they're using her account/info to get back on HuskerBoard.

I just got this PM. Sheesh.

I've had it after one week. I'm just not accepted here probably because I am a woman. I was called a racist and that I called this guy and his family that they are a bunch of Asians and I did no such thing. So I think it's time to move on. I deleted my pic and signature and pics. Do I need to do anything else before you remove me or you just remove me? I want my name off here so I won't come back and see my name. Thanks.

Just tell her that we typically don't delete accounts; that we leave them in the event someone wants to return. That way, they can keep all their old posts, etc.

Also, for some reason the new member Nigel_Peppercock is making me think FLU. Email is forkandspoonandhammer@gmail.com. IP is 70.184.220.200, which resolves to Omaha, but still... No proof, just something about the name and email is setting off warning bells.

And here's another - Big Red Corneater79. Email is stallionride12@yahoo.com. IP is 216.201.247.138, which resolves to Houston. Seem to recall one of FLU's IPs resolved to Houston also.

Probably just paranoid, but...

She asked to delete her account in a PM to me as well and that's what I told her. (She went back to posting for a few days, and then this, and then she sent another PM.)

Her persona seems plausible enough (an older person who doesn't frequent message boards and doesn't know how to interact on one) but, it's funny, in her latest PM she mentioned that she was going to be recommend this board but now that she's seen how she's treated here she will recommend 247 instead. I didn't bother responding.

I think knapplc may be on to something here.

 
I didn't reply to her PM. I figured if she wanted to leave, she'd leave. No reason to delete the account, and if she's gone, problem solved.
