1. We are ahead of where I expected us to be.
2. Cody Green was a must get.
3. Zimmerer most under rated of recruits (EE not included because his tape no into Rivals, yet).
4. Love the fact we are taking HS OL's with upside rather than Juco OLs. Also, we're taking some smart, hard working kids at OL which is very important.
5. All the recruits are solid players who will be great with this coaching staff and win games, play as a TEAM & be good students & citizens.
6. Beck & Ekler are animals at recruiting. Barney is looking good. Bo is doing his deal as HC. However, very disappointed in some of the others. Some of these guys need to get off their hiny and help sell a great product: NU & Husker FB. We need at least one or 2 other Beck or Ekler type recruiters. Gilmore is not cutting as RC. We also need to get another Tim Cassidy type in the AD office and we need to bring back Vince or somebody like him. The 2 who replaced those 2 need the boot. Recruiting is a special talent and it is not M-F 9-5.
7. Winning will be an incredible help. However, in any business or organization, you can have the best product but you also need a great marketing plan for championship type success. I think we have great coaching product but I don't think we are there "YET" with great recruiting and marketing.
8. Stars are not everything. The fact is we have some great kids signed along with a couple others I consider a lock who are not 4 or 5 stars but kids I would take in a heart beat. However, there are kids who are 4 & 5 stars who are being chased by OU, USC, UT, OSU, ND, etc. that we should be in on and having as official visitors. To date, our official visitor list is a little too slim for my liking. The best time to seel recruits is to have them in for a game to see 80,000 Husker fans fully decked out in RED.
Again, I love the current commits but time to step it up a notch in recruiting with the coaches & other staff. This is NU!
