Limited Time on Board

I don't recall if I've mentioned it, but one of the reasons I've been absent from the board so much is that my wife and I have been assisting her parents, both of whom were in their mid-80s. Unfortunately, the last week or so her father "crashed" and has been in ICU on life-support. Today the doctor informed us that all measures were unsuccessful. At the request of the family, life-support was withdrawn and he passed away. For the next week or so, my wife and I will be pretty busy with funeral arrangements, probate, closing out accounts and settling his affairs. I will try and get on when I can, but just wanted you to know that it may be very limited.

To make matters worse, my mother-in-law is in the early stages of Alzheimer's. With the death of my father-in-law, my wife and I will be spending more time checking on my mother-in-law while we try and allow her as much time at home before having to enter a long-term care facility. No idea how long that will last - Alzheimer's progression is very unpredictable. She could maintain for quite a while, or (and this might be likely given the death of her husband) she could crater.

I apologize for this, particularly with signing day upcoming. I wish it could be avoided. Anyway, if you need something done by an Admin, feel free to contact me, but it would be a good idea to copy zoogs, DaveH and Eric.

Thanks for understanding.

My thoughts and prayers for you and your family, Frank.

My mother in law passed away in October and my wife still struggles at times with the loss.

Take care of your wife.

Thanks, everyone. Funeral was Friday. We're now working our way through the financials - making sure bills are paid on time, cancelling accounts, consolidating things. The biggest issue is creating a routine for my mother-in-law. If we can do that, it will help. Again, thanks.
