The main reason I suspended him was because he was causing some issues early on in the thread and I suggested he no longer post in there since he couldn't keep it on track. He stayed out for a few days and then came back and, instead of focusing on the topic, he brought in his usual style of contributing/trolling.
Locking may have been a bit premature but the thread was a continuous source of problems. Moiraine is/was incredibly pissed off about it, said she didn't feel comfortable anymore and tried to make a big public display by starting a thread that said 'just ban me.' I get that the one thread about sexism got locked, but imo, not all threads are created equal. Moiraine, Landlord, BB and teach wouldn't keep it on track so, outside of warning/banning all of them, locking seemed like the best way to nip the behavior.
I don't think there's a right/wrong answer here. I see Moiraine's point.
