Is it just me, or has he been being a bigger d!(k lately? Lots of stuff like this.

Haven't looked at their positions, but assuming it covers our bases, obviously yes. You wouldn't? We'd get 15 commits at a higher avg than we have at 6... it's quite obvious who has the better class. Are you joking?

I dunno. We have so many who are critical and pessimistic, I'm glad we have someone who you can always count on to be irrationally optimistic.

He is still that, to a fault. I've noticed a trend lately when anyone who offers anything that isn't 100% praise of the staff, Matty starts taking shots at. And if you disagree with him in the recruiting threads? Whooo boy.

Thoughts?

I actually can't find his original account for some reason.  My recollection is what he got banned for wasn't the worst of things.

I guess I don't necessarily have an issue with letting him try again.  Although I would have preferred he didn't announce it to everyone.

 
Yeah he was death by 1,000 cuts from what I remember. Lots of inappropriate behavior. Also just seemed like he began to use the board as his stream of consciousness, throwing out any nonsense that came to his mind.

I don't know if I have a strong opinion either way. I personally tend to lean in the direction of permanent bans unless someone comes back under the radar after awhile and proves they're behaving. The fact he's announced it to the world is annoying.

Maybe it's because I just got back from a vacation but I'm feeling generous; however, if he stays, I think he needs a DM or a message about expectations. I remember he used to act like a victim a lot. Even now his initial return post is filled with 'woah is me' language. IMO he needs to understand he earned his ban and one toe out of line will send him right back to the hole he's been hiding in. He also shouldn't be allowed to flaunt his return like he is.

Yeah, I still can't really decide what I think.  I agree with you that I don't necessarily go hunting for formerly banned members unless the give cause to do so.  So if he would have just started a new account and went on, I say let it go.  The part where he announced it to everyone makes it problematic.

If he would actually behave, I would guess no one would really care.  No one seems to have said much so far.  But as soon as he says something that stirs the pot, people will probably be all over him.  And I guess we could just go with that as well.

The only other thing I thought of was to tell him to create some other account and just keep his mouth shut.  Or hide the one post then change his handle.  But I'm not sure if we should go down that road or not.

 
Maybe I can just DM him and have a chat with him @Mavric? Let him know our position, whatever that position might be.

What's tough too (now that he outed himself) is that the people who know are just going to troll him. They'll call him Matty, use it as an excuse to mess with him, or maybe come for us the moment he puts a toe out of line.

IDK. I'm kind of leaning towards just letting him linger so long as he a) doesn't break a rule and b) doesn't flaunt who he is or his previous warning history here. Perhaps it could be a little trial run and if his return causes too many problems for people we'll just boot him. If he's willing to express genuine remorse and commit to being a better person, maybe he can get a... 17th chance or w/e he is on lol.

Yeah, that's what I'm afraid of.  That's why I was thinking of options to get (another) new username that people won't know it's him (at least until he doesn't something to let them figure it out).  But that might be over-thinking it.
