I’m against this too. As maddening as it is, the gamesmanship of dealing with the umpire is part of the game. You take that away and it just becomes sterile.
I know people think the strike zone should be a perfectly defined matrix. But, it isn’t.I can't decide what to think about that. There are a lot of things that used to be "part of the game" but then people lose their minds when a ref/ump gets something wrong that can't be corrected. As evidenced right here on this here board.
When there is a part of the game that is (supposed to be) very well definied, I don't think it's the worst thing to have that administered consistantly.
This is an interesting change. I'm not against speeding things up but I wasn't expecting it to be this fast.
